Ok you're correct, I'm really not using the phrase "ducker" as accurately as would be fair, lol, Its a gut call on my part because I really believe Wilder and his management have taken a VERY easy route to 39 victories. Although I don't have proof of this its still my feeling. Plus I just like ragging on Wilder for the most part because it used to bother Blizzy so much. I just starting liking it so much I couldn't stop. Really I just want to see him step up because I have been really wanting to see what happens when he does for what seems like a damned decade, lol,
fair enough hopefully Ortiz fight gets made and king Kong brings it. I was really hoping when huey fury pulled out Parker would have blew off the date and the two could have negotiated something
Aye! Yeah a Wilder vs Ortiz fight would be great! I would be so impressed with Wilders camp if he could pull that off. Yeah so most of my Wilder hate is just smack talk on my part, but don't spread that around because its harder to troll other members if they think I'm not serious.
Very hard to call, the eye test says he can look very good but also very bad.. He talks too much **** and has his head stuck up his ass so I feel that has put many of us off him plus he has a pretty bad resume.. Until he faces someone grade A we won't know for sure... At this stage you have to mark him as a B+ until he steps up.... P.S. Povetkin was 100% Wilder's fault, there was no reason why the fight shouldn't have gone ahead if Wilder didn't jump the gun..
My best assessment right now is B level with the potential to raise or lower that depending on who he fights and how he looks while doing it. He's had a long streak of consistent performances, he has the dimensions and definitely the power to trouble anybody. Fighting a lot of people and not losing is to me always an indicator of quality. However, a lot of the people that he fought were bargain basement filler and while he does have some decent wins, he didn't exactly look like a world beater while doing so. Even against Duhaupas, who has no punch and who he should have handily outboxed, he came out looking like he'd just fought Apollo Creed. Washington bullied him around the ring with a jab for four rounds. If Wilder sharpens up his technique and cleans up the other champions he will go to an A level guy imho. If Wilder crashes and burns against Ortiz and continues to dodge dangerous opposition, he will go down to C level imho. Can't believe that so far into this guy's career we're still wondering how good he is.
Let's see: Power - B Stamina - B Speed - C Accuracy - D Chin - F Ribs - F Courage - F- I guess he could be a solid C.
I went for B. He may be a top 5 fighter in the division (4th imo, mostly because he has a belt), but that says more about the quality of the division (or lack of) rather than Wilder being particularly good. All he really has is power, he doesn't use his height or reach to his advantage and simply looks to bomb someone out with a powerful right hand. He's far too basic and fragile a fighter to be anywhere above B. In fact if he didn't have a belt then I would most likely rate him lower. In addition, he doesn't have the wins on his record to suggest anything higher than a B.
