pretty much any fight that does big ppv numbers has long promotions and build up shows and getting close to a million in the UK is huge

Except nobody cares about Wlad and nobody cares about Chisora. The fight will get no attention, just like it didn't before it fell apart the first time. Nobody over here is interested in seeing it.

Oscar De La Hoya vs Bernard Hopkins each had a fight 3 months before their huge showdown. This is really an incredibly stupid argument. Haye vs Klitschko is what it is. If the UK Fans are that ****in awful, then UK is a non-issue anyways. If they don't know about this fight by now... and 6 more months of having it showed down their throat isn't enough... then they are never going to pull their heads out of their asses. This fight would be promoted along with Wlad vs Chisora... obviously. You don't think that they would be making a big deal about the showdown between Wlad vs Haye after he fights Chisora? Two UK heavyweights getting a chance at the true Heavyweight Champion, back to back... a couple months apart. I would figure that would be a pretty big deal. Once again.. if it isn't... the the UK fans are hopeless anyways.

Well... I can see by how dense the UK fans are on this board, that there is no hope for any of the other fans in the UK. Especially... if you guys are supposed to be the BIG boxing fans. FFS, I feel like I am talking to a 2 year old kid. Trying to get you guys to understand anything is nearly impossible.

You say that like you have a better understanding of British boxing.

Listen, I know how big Mayweather/Hatton was and I also know how much of a difference the promotion needed. Was it necessary? Probably not but did it help? Yes.

What do you don't understand is, not every person who buys a show is a hardcore fan. You can't attract 1m fans to buy a card, that's just not going to happen in any country. You need to get the interest of women, of football fans, of old people and young kids - Not every fan is on ESB all day, reading 20 different Haye/Klitschko threads. You're making an incredibly stupid point, if you don't think promotion helps significantly.

Haye/Klitschko would sell to around 300,000 people over here right now, I'd imagine. Given proper promotion, that would jump to over 1m. It's key and well worth it.

What Wlad did makes sense. They are gonna fight in July, he hasn't fought since september, so he takes a fight in between

    nothing more normal than that.

I don't see the problem really. Haye is cancelling the fight because he thinks Wlad will not want to fight 2 months after his fight with Chisora? That's not a good reason.

Yet you continue to ignore the fact that it has already been promoted... and would still be promoted for the next 6 months if Haye didn't walk away.

See what I mean? You act like Wlad has to be inactive from now until July in order to promote a fight with Haye.

Of course it isn't, because Chisora is a hopeless and the British fans know that. Every single British fan who saw him fight Sexton or Williams, knows this is a guy who will be utterly destroyed, so people won't even tune in, unless it's on a Warren PPV.

I'm not sure whether your boxing knowledge is so low or you're just blindly defending every Klitschko move. The points you've made so far are unquestionably stupid.

    oh wow.

if pacquiao fights mayweather, the two most famous boxers in the WORLD will be fighting. are you saying they wont do a promotional tour?!?!? Are you saying even they would not need promotion?

your point is totally utterly ABSURD!

promoting a fight is not to do with popularity. Its to create an atmosphere and build anticipation so that CASUAL people buy the ppv! People who dont usually watch boxing.

Do you actually understand the difference between hardcore fans talking about it on internet forums and the odd 20 second mention on news shows, and actual promotion?

When Haye and Harrison were promoting their fight, you couldn't turn on a TV station without seeing them. They were on every sports channel, several times a day. They were on mainstream chat shows. They were on mainstream entertainment shows. They appeared in soccer stadiums, with 50,000 people there.

I could go on and on.

The difference between what you consider promoting and what actual promoters do, is enormous. Why do you think literally millions are spent on promotion, when, according to you, it is as easy as what's happened with Haye and Wlad?

it was promoted in 09 SO WHAT?! its 2011 now genious!

oN top of that, haye was NO WHERE NEAR as big as he is now! he wasnt even on ppv!

are you just trying to back up wlad every single chance you get or are you GENUINELY this ignorant?!?

and how the hell do you suppose they promote the fight these next few months, while he has a fight with chisora looming! you really think THATS gonna happen?!? promoting a haye/wlad fight before wlad has fought chisora?!

Exactly. There are very few hardcore fans in boxing, which is why guys like Martinez, Vazquez etc., only do small numbers. To successfully promote, you need to appeal to the mainstream who, for for 364 days in a year, don't give a **** about boxing. They are the market who make big events into massive events.

    Holy ****.:rofl

Stop and read for a second.

Wlad vs Haye was already supposed to happen. Did you forget? They already did a press tour, the fight was already promoted to the max... then Haye backed out at the last minute. So... they have already promoted this fight. Let alone they would still have 6 more months from now to promote it further! Also, Wlad fighting on SKY for FREE in April, and 2 more months after that to promote!

FFS man... does this thing need a decade of promotion to get you ****s to wake up over there? David Hayve OBVIOUSLY isn't as big of a deal over there as you guys pretend.
