No. But I also wouldn't be playing patty cake for 10 rounds with a guy who's much smaller than me, can't hurt me, and is deathly afraid of me. I understand Wlad being cautious. However, he has some of these guys broken down and ready to quit by like the 5th round and still decides to be cautious. Watching Wlad fight sometimes is like watching someone in a Ferrari do 55 MPH on the highway.

Haha, well said. I liked your reference to a Ferrari and Wlad. The man has all the tools, his weak chin and toughness when things get rough keep him from opening up it seems. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything.

    Exactly.

Basically if I were Wlad, I would keep my winning tactics, but against guys like Chambers or Ibragimov I would let it all out and take them out of there as soon as I saw that these guys can't possibly hurt me.

There is no way in hell Chambers could pose a threat to Wlad after the first 2-3 rounds. That's why Steward practically begged him to go for the knockout, he understood that what was going on after round 4 or 5 was pointless and probably boring to death for the fans watching.

I'm a Wlad fan, but I agree with the Ferrari analogy. If there is no, or little risk why not let your hands go?

Personally, I think its a confidence issue. I think if he hadn't been dropped before by guys he expected to walk all over, he would be more of a risk taker.

He should realize that he's a HW prize fighter and any trained fighter, especially a HW, who lands a flush shot can **** your **** up. Its boxing, and those things happen. If you are afraid to get hit, you should stick to wind surfing and banging starlets.

This is the truth I suspect. He wants to retire with 3 defeats and 3 defeats only. In his 3 losses he:

    * Was sparked out of nowhere by a nobody opponent (Sanders)

    * Ran out of gas and was KOed out of exhaustion (Puritty, Brewster)

He can chalk Puritty up to inexperience, but still, that's a loss because he didn't pace himself.

The Sanders KO happened because he wasn't watchful enough, walked into one punch and the fight was over.

Brewster he brought the fire to, except Lamon amazingly managed to tough it out and then KO an exhausted Wlad.

That is how he has lost. But nobody has ever outpointed him, or even threatened to. So now he will box to take wide points decisions with minimal risk, and take the KO in the mid-to-late rounds if it is on offer.

The amount of abuse he takes for winning in an excessively cautious manner is NOTHING compared to what he gets for fighting exciting and winding up flat on his ass with the ref waving it off.

    Exactly. Especially on here!

Hell, you could a world champion with 40 straight wins, then get dropped twice by the best two fighters in the world and be a **** fighter on ESB! :patsch

Oh yeah after 12 dominating wins in a row you better do something to change your style.

The great Satchel Paige once said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Think Chambers wasn't capable of hurting Wlad? Any HW of his skill level can knock you out. Wlad dominated him and KO'd him so bad Chambers don't even remember it. It's one of those "Did you get the license plate number of the truck that hit you KO". Chambers had never been KO'd before and whupped bigger guys like Rossy, Peter and Dimitrenko.

Wlad sure makes some fans from the other camp squirm into the point of denial. It's the ultimate compliment

After the first 3 rounds? No man, he really wasn't. Chambers is a light hitter anyway and after a few rounds he was running for his life. The guy froze vs Povetkin after a few rounds, he was helpless vs Wlad.

The art of boxing is to hit and not get hit. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Vlad's jab is awesome, has left hook, right hand etc., has great skills. Has great knockout percentage.
