Again, Hopkins is a REAL puncher.

As is Raul Marquez and Alex Rios (tho neither being close to elite).

But why is EVERYONE putting so much weight into Pavlik's power? If power were everything (as someone already stated) Julian Jackson would be one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Jermain can take a punch, so can Kelly...but Taylor is at least TWICE the boxer that Pavlik is. Hense my pick being Taylor UD.

According to Zakman and Amsterdam if you get visibly hurt by Hopkins once in 12 rounds your chin is glass, so of course he has a shaky chin. :nut

    Bernard is a f###ing Animal..

If you survive a Hopkins onslaught midway through a pacey fight , you are quite some tough guy.

Exactly. Taylor got a scare from Grady Brewer early in his career. Incidentally, he's yet to face a genuine puncher. It aint hard to tell. I mean come on. Look at some of his opposition. Cory Spinks, Kassim Ouma, Winky Wright, etc., all feather fisted. While his team has also attempted to make fights with Felix Sturm and Sergio Mora. It's not a coincidence that none of these guys have any power what so ever, even though Winky still managed to wobble him with a straight left in the 9th round.

Hopkins roughs you up pretty good and slides elbows in your midsection, occasionaly he may punch your balls or rabbit punch ya in the blind side of the ref, not to mention that he happily leans his head to your face in close, so you may get hurt anyway... But Hopkins doesn't have the weight in his punches to get you stunned like Taylor or Miranda but I would rather fight em than Bernard.

RJJ took Hopkins best shot without any problem, but according to most here he has a glass chin

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Obviously circumstances have to be factored in. But Bernard Hopkins - particularly as he got older - was NOT a "powerful puncher" and getting rocked badly by a 40 plus Hopkins should raise questions - particularly when a fighter then faces NOTHING but light-hitters moving up from lower weight classes, and some of those guys buzz him a bit.:patsch

Taylor's chin is, at the least, suspect. And I think he and DiBella KNOW this, which is why they've fought all these smaller, light-hitting fighters ever since Hopkins rocked him!! :nod

Pavlik's gonna show y'all tonight when he exposes both the overrated Taylor AND his questionable whiskers!! :yep

Hopkins sometimes loads and sits on punches from angles you dont see. He mixes up his punches a lot. I don't think he's the most powerful guy out there, but when you get hit with something you don't see comming, or expect a lot, its going to rock you. Guys like Hopkins and James Toney don't have huge power, but they are able to land lots of sneaky shots, which has the same effect as being hit with lots of hard punches.

RJJ never allowed Hopkins to shoot at him in the first place, but in case some counter landed here and there, Jones took it since never had a glass chin, neither has Bernard a steel-hammer punch and that IBF vacant mw title fight was probably the most overlooked fight ever, it took 10 years for people to realize what they had in their hands and demand a rematch that never happened.

Tarver, Winky, Taylor, Oscar, Eastman, Joppy....all were hurt in their fights vs Bernard. This Hopkins isnt a power puncher garbage is just that.

Does he have the power he once had? NO! But he is arguably one of the most accurate punchers in the sport....meaning he doesnt just hit hard, but clean and crisp.

Does he KO his opponents like he used to? NO...not at this advanced age. But does he have enough to hurt his opponents? HELL YEAH.

Think about it. Just about everyone he has been in the ring with lately (I say lately, since we are talking about his power as it stands NOW) has been hurt by him.
