Scenario: You are Groves' trainer for the much anticipated rematch. How do you prepare Groves and what systems, tactics do you implement to ensure a win. Aim for a early knock out? Look to pace the fight better for a decision? Aggressive? Defensive?

I'd set him up to counter punch tbh. Fight on the back foot early and change if need be. I think Groves made a mistake last time when he went for a war. There again though, Froch struggles v people that push him back so idk.

I'd base everything around the jab, groves was slipping what froch was throwing for the first 7 and winning the battle of the jabs comfortably, he can do that for the first half without going to war and conserve his energy for when froch inevitably comes on strong in the 2nd half and win on points.

My gut feeling though is that groves will throw even more at froch this time in a bid to make a statement and stop him.

remind him of what he did which was just scientifically pick Froch apart.

remind him also NOT to anxiously use up all his stamina on heightened anxious boxing, which I believe he also did. box well, smart and clever as he does, but watch for Carl trying to steal it away with his unquestionable endurance and later rounds resilience.

I believe that in training fighters should be pushed to such give it your all states and then suddenly a Trainer will call them to pace and easy off while still doing exactly whatever part of their regime they were presently doing. then mixing it up and springing it on them, this is real competition and a manner of flow.

controlled thinking with the undoubted skill he's got.

in fairness to Froch, I think he was a little off and I posted as much, however Carl might just be winding down and near finished.

should be a good fight all the same!

Really work on his stamina, hill work and runs gradually going up in miles per week, even Groves biggest fans would admit he was seriously gassing before he was stopped.

Just do more of the same.

Keep centre of the ring rather than backing up, fight from range and pop froch when he tries to come in. Avoid the ropes at all costs.

More of the same but do not get into any macho bull**** with the hands down. The other thing groves has to maintain is the challengers mentality and hunger. The biggest danger I see is groves getting over confident.

If I was the trainer I would bring Adam booth in to help me.

Boxing wise, more of the same. Froch has NEVER boxed any differently, even when clearly out of his element like against Groves in the early rounds and Ward so I don't think there's much danger of it happening now.

Big focus on fitness to help with the later rounds, although I still think Groves will box the first round like he did in the fist fight to get Froch thinking.

Get him going on hill runs and get his stamina up like many others have said but boxing wise more of the same stuff he done in the first 5 rounds of the first fight keep Carl honest with the jab take centre of the ring but slip back as Carl comes forward and walk him onto the right hand.

Do the same thing for the first 4 or 5 rounds, get some rounds in, put Froch on the back foot and make him chase the fight. In the championship rounds, use the ring keep Froch at bay by moving, use the jab and don't get to greedy, just throw ones and two's. If he gets caught up in a brawl, which is possible, hold on to him and don't get caught up in a slugging contest, because Froch will win.

Keep Carl on the back foot. Carl is horrible on te back foot you can see the fear in his eyes he's scared to let his hands go. Also groves should set traps for Carl. Groves can back away with his hands low to let Carl throw his slow hip shots and counter him with fast powerful shots. If groves can keep this up all night he's a winner.

They need to make sure Groves mind is right, he can't go into the fight thinking it will be easy or the same fight as last time. I can't think of many technical things he can improve on, maybe learn to clinch when buzzed and he needs to improve his stamina.

This jab right hand if its there step off and move round. reset and counter
Froch was coming forward in straight lines towards the end winging shots from his waist. Technically awful but he was landing them if Groves moves correctly sets up his work and boxes he should win.
