if that boy had some pop on his punches we would be talking legendary status but he didnt an he had solid fan friendly career no shame in being couple time world champ
Baby Bull was one of my favourite fighters back around the time he was beating the **** out of Freitas and Julio Diaz. He unified 3 lightweight belts whilst he was still in his early twenties, which is a great achievement.
I'll never forget Marquez saying before that fight "Juan Diaz is half Mexican, and half American, and I am a mother ****ing M-e-x-i-c-a-n. That will be the difference in the fight."
I remember feeling bad for Diaz when Marquez said that. Then, leading up to their rematch, I read Diaz was supporting USA instead of Mexico in the World Cup, and I was like, "ok, he deserves it." Overall though Diaz is really likable and was one hell of a fighter. I wonder how his pursuit of law school is going.
I miss Juan Diaz. He brought non-stop aggression and pure action. Short career and a really short peak, but he should be very proud of himself - three or so title belts and participating in a fight of the year. Pretty solid.
He was a champ while studying in Uni, who can hate that? Man was dedicated to more than one thing and had other plans aside from boxing so can't hate on the kid, he got KO'ed by JMM but also had a decent showing in a rematch later to show he could hang in there so he did what he could and was a work champ more or less unified.
i read somewhere he was on showbox the other day filling in for tarver until he gets his drug allegations straight. How did he do and what did he say about what hes been up to. I read online he started law school school, is a community activist, has a radio boxing show, and owns a trucking company. Good for him ive always cheered for him.
Is he coming back? He could still be a force at LW now that Marquez has gone up. Diaz vs Demarco, Vazquez, Broner.....all great fights! He'd beat Demarco. Dude retired way too young but if he's happy with his life while not being a fighter then all the more to him. Good to see a smart young man walk away with his brains in tact and lucrative career options outside of boxing. Wish he'd come back though, he could be a force at LW right now and outside of Broner I can see him beating them all.
My deal with Baby Bull is the same as with Jermain Taylor. Hated 'em both when HBO was shoving them down our throats, but they both grew on me over the years and by the end I was rooting hard for them.
