But he doesn't. People just walk right through him. Obviously, he would have to change his style slightly to accommodate his newfound power because his punching mechanics would be different, but at the end of the day, he just can't punch. He is what he is. Clearly he has skills though. Any fighter at the Olympic medal level is going to have skills. Look who is at the top in boxing right now. Wlad at heavy, gold, Sergie at light heavy, Olympic experience, but no medal, Ward at super middle, gold, GGG at middleweight, silver, Floyd at welter, bronze (Pac would beat that ass though), and then people below... Lomachenko, Gold. Rigo, Gold. The list goes on. My point is, Zou has skills, but no power. It's a shame. If the kid had KO power, he would a superstar ala Prince Hamed.
He is missing power. In combination with how ridiculously low he keeps his hands... not good when he faces a solid top 10 opponent.
He does keep his hands too low sometimes, but if he had power, he could get away with it. He's great at transitioning from southpaw to orthodox, but he I agree that he does need to become more cognizant defensively. At the minimum, when he's in the southpaw stance, he should keep his left hand up, and when he's orthodox, keep his right up. But again... His style is what makes him exciting. If he only had power, he could continue to utilize that style and become a mega star. It's too bad.
I actually don't think he's as bad or incapable of doing some respectable things in his career as some seem to think. I'm sure he'll win a title at some point in his career; he has the promotional backing and generates big revenue so he has that going for him.
If his face looked like that against that caliber of opponent, I can only imagine what would happen against middle or top tier opponents. He's got quite a bit to work on.
He would have to change his punching mechanics. Definitely. But he could still have the same exciting style. At the end of the day though, even if he changes his punching mechanics, I don't think he'll be able to produce knock outs. He may even be working with the same strength and conditioning coach that trains Cotto and Pacquaio. Still, no results.
he just doesnt commit to his punches. he throws fast punches like hes playing a game of tag. someone ought to tell him this isnt the amateurs any more. he could get seriously hurt
I don't understand why Zou Shiming has all this backing. Dude has no talent, below average power, average handspeed, and a shaky chin. China is so desperate for a world class athlete, that it's desperate.
They need a Chinese "star" for the Macau fights. Anyway, after this weekend I promised myself I'd never watch that guy fight again. He sucks. I was really hoping the Thai guy would knock him out.
Lol. No talent? The guy has international experience at the highest level and came out with a gold medal. He has good footwork, good hand speed, and can switch stances smoothly. He just gets sloppy sometimes, slaps with his punches, and he can't punch for ****. He could fix his sloppiness and improve his punching mechanics, and if he did, plus was gifted with KO power, this guy would be a super star in the same mold as Prince Naseem Hamed.
