Umar is a bit of a scroat, constantly referring to absolute veterans of the game as ‘Arum’ & ‘Warren’ is so disrespectful. But then again Eddie changes his tune like the weather
It’s Hearn’s doing that the YouTube bunch are not scared to ask him questions that they would think twice about asking the other big promoters. Hearn has played the Big time Charlie persona to his advantage so whilst he definitely has a point that other promoters don’t openly engage and ensure that they have control over the interview , Eddie has made a rod for his own back !
Can't listen to McCart. Anyone who regularly says "and stuff like that" at the end of questions probably isn't cut out for interviewing.
At first I thought he was just a gibbering idiot then I had a look at his Twitter and now have a much lower opinion of him
Thing is Hearn has made a rod for his own back here He mentioned many things to Umar and mostly he was spot on However he has boasted about how accessible he is and how he will answer all questions ect Fair enough Frank wants creative control and its given to him id imagine He can't just change his mind when he has had a bad day
Also Kugan trails round with his nose up Eddie's ass so it is like a feature film on Hearns life anyway. He loves that attention. He can't whinge about what he has created.
Hearn's brazen candidness has always been his selling point. He loves the attention and he loves putting people's backs up by doing this as he knows it puts the pressure on other promoters. It's rich of him to moan about it when he's always revelled in it. Maybe he's feeling the heat?
Kugan was also at this press conference and wouldn't normally pass up an interview with Hearn, he's clearly arranged this to happen so Umar can air his grievances and in turn probably get a few more views on the video. There was an interview a few weeks back where Kugan was interviewing Hearn and was basically asked by EH why he wasn't outside with the rest of media waiting to be allowed in, Kugan basically says he goes where he wants to. I don't it would be a bad thing if the playing field got levelled, for at least a little bit, after this interview. IFL more than believe their own hype.
Kugan and IFL were more or less the first ones doing what they're doing before every tom dick and Harry jumped on the bandwagon...... they've earned there stripes over the years in fairness, so I can understand why they get preference. Respect the graft as they say.
But there's no improvement on what they were doing. It's like a few pals and a camera. It's gotten worse.
IFL have worn very thin. Before, their completely ramshackle nature was countered by the extraordinary access they got. I first picked up on them ahead of Fury-Klitschko in Dusseldorf. The footage they got in fight week was unprecedented, and they were the only ones right in the Fury camp for the whole week. Now the formula has worn thin. In short it seems to be: - Secure big interview (Joshua, Fury, Hearn, Warren, Arum) etc. - Immediately interview everyone else in their contacts book. Tell them what the big interviewee said, ask for a response. - Post the 30 minute interview with the other person, with a clickbait title containing that response: "Spencer Oliver RAW - Joshua should take step-aside!!!". - Re-interview big name. Tell them what their other contacts said about them and ask for a response. - Rinse and repeat. Think I'm right in saying that Hearn funded IFL entirely during the early days. I'll give IFL credit that they hold Hearn to account for some of the stuff he says, but Hearn's right that he's the only one grilled in the way he is. Hearn's digs at Kugan always being drunk and unprofessional have become a lot more pointed too. When you see how the likes of Boxing Social and Seconds Out operate, it just highlights how poor IFL are. Flexen and Andi Purewal are streets ahead of anybody IFL have.
