You could be right mate. I just came from a different angle Another point, they have no reason to disclose so much of their business. They should be filing micro accounts that don't give as much information away. Kugan's accountant is doing it right with IFLTV by filing accounts, that doesn't give much away at all
A number of things but mainly volume of engagement by the right kind of audience. If videos are mostly viewed anonymously then that’s bad as YT can’t target them as easily (so chase subscribers first, likes second). Videos get paid more the longer they go, so YT can squeeze more ads in. Hence the traditional “just one more before I go” that lasts 5 minutes. if videos have commercial music in them, they can be “de-monetised” by the copyright owner. Similarly if they have copyright footage. Hence the IFL folks try to do their main videos away from the centre of arenas. They’ve shown they don’t care about audio volume or quality, it’s all about avoiding Neil Diamond in the background cos he’d get the cash. Boxing content doesn’t pay as well as (say) reviews of tech gadgets; the latter sparks shopping searches and targeting by high margin vendors. So it’s volume and length that matter most - I’ve no firm idea what sports bloggers earn but someone reviewing (say) iPhone accessories can clear thousands a month. I know of one guy doing financial advice videos who cleared a few million.
Very much so. It's one of the most mature online services - look up any cooking blog and see how they have the same style (long narrative, talk through the ingredients, recipe about 10-15 paragraphs further down). They know how to game the system. Similar for travel bloggers. There's a guy called Bald & Bankrupt who nicked the idea from a friend, Harald Baldr, but they now have the thick end of 7 million subscribers between them and TV-scale audiences. Harald used to actually ask people on his travels to turn off the music since he earned nothing if it got taken down / de-monetised. Both worth a watch and very different styles.
Thought so. I know Tasted/Tasty absolutely make a fortune due to the views and subscribers they have. B&B is such an intelligent guy. It's as if he's not letting on, IMHO. There's more to him than meets the eye. So uploading a music video of someone else's work won't benefit you financially? Animals & Cooking videos seem the way forward, correct? Thanks for your reply btw.
I can't cope with the camera being constantly in his face watching B and B, shame really as he goes to some proper non traditional holiday destinations.
I envy him to an extent - been on one or two random holidays like his adventures, and got into some hairy spots at times, but nothing like the peril he gets himself into. Never thought I'd be so entertained watching a bald, mildly arrogant Englishman getting drunk with fat Ukrainians though. Maybe he should be NATO's peace envoy.
A chap called Rick Beato is worth a listen if you're interested in this. He makes educational videos about music production and technique, openly says he doesn't do it for the money (he originally used the channel to sell his books) but he gets in occasional bother from bands who block his content for copyright reasons. He's using their music to showcase good technique and is happy to lose the cash, but "computer says no" most of the time. He's even been in front of Congress arguing the case for fair use.
Bald & Bankrupt is a real life despicable POS. A couple years back I kept getting his videos on Youtube recommended to me even though I don't watch travel or related videos. He just seemed "off" to me, like something sadistic or evil about him. Just a gut feeling. I thought he was creepy AF. So, I googled him and there was a LOT of stuff he clearly doesn't want to be known about him. He got off a gang **** charge in the UK on a technicality. He went to Ukraine or somewhere like that and drove a women into the woods in the middle of the night and basically said 'either give me sloppy top or I am leaving you here alone'. He had a blog where he documented this and boasted about it. The guy is a sick demonic pig. Lots of other terrible thing he did and boasted about on his blog before he got the YouTube fame. Also, a bit of financial crime as well, ripping off banks for loans and money. Needless to say, I never watch his videos. The thought of contributing to his income and popularity makes me nauseous. He is actually someone who fully deserves to be cancelled.
It's mostly on Reddit, the more you read, the sicker it gets. There is a LOT of collaborating evidence in the blog that it's him. The details and the dates match up. Personal information he gives all match up to him (divorced, his kids ages etc.). The gang **** charge is probably the worst thing though. The fact that he got off on a technicality is sickening. I just found it weird that he was being promoted so heavily on YouTube, also the fact that he is creepy AF, I mean he looks demonic to say the least. So I thought I would see if there is any exposed info on him and my gut feeling was right. He must have some kind of connection to money & power. Getting of a heinous crime like that and then having YouTube throwing their backing behind him even after being exposed. This guy is a CREEP and a predator.
