I may reluctantly miss this. The last two days it's taken me 2 and a half hours to get home. Braithwaite is the champion but Ahmed is in his hometown. I thought Ahmed won the first and will win the rematch. Let's hope for not another draw!

 

On atm is Zain Ali vs. George Rogers, 4 rounds @ middleweight - third of six undercard bouts.

Pro debut for 24 year old Pakistani-Brummie local fave Ali, who's boxed since he was 9.

Ijaz Ahmed vs. Marcel Braithwaite II, 12 rounds @ super flyweight

 

Round 1

Braithwaite answering the opening bell with frantic energy. Lots of light jabs followed by haymakers with either hand, sandbag rights and wild left hooks - all ducked or dodged. Ahmed is checking the Braithwaite jab with his own. Wide slicing right downstairs from Braithwaite, grazes Ahmed's hip. Ahmed the much calmer fighter, but also putting himself at risk of giving the frame away on activity. Just a small helping of single jabs now & then. Finally he works his way inside and lands some hooks on the body after driving Braithwaite into a corner. Braithwaite tosses a quick jab at the face and then whips a sneaky uppercut into the belt line. Braithwaite fighting with both hands low, baiting the lead. Ahmed with a scooping uppercut on the stomach, then a towel snap right hand on the chest. Ahmed coming on in the last half-minute.

Round 2

Braithwaite is moving to his left, tossing a Hungry Hungry Hippo jab - out, down, and reeled back in with palm facing the canvas the whole time. Ahmed is jabbing his way in cautiously. Heavy hooks on the body by Ahmed when in range for them. On the outside he's barely working at all, while Braithwaite flurries and wings wide hooks that miss. Sloppy clinch, Braithwaite holding Ahmed behind the neck before letting go. Wild overhand right by Braithwaite misses, and Ahmed almost gets him with a counter two-piece but Braithwaite ducks away. Not a good round for connects for either man. Neither has been, tbh. Braithwaite slaps Ahmed on the shoulder with a windmill right while prancing wide out clockwise on his toes.

Hang on, just one mother****ing KO between them in 34 pro bouts?!?!?!

What in the featherfisted blazes did I get myself into? This is honestly awful to watch, both the quality of action itself and the camera angle with all the ropes in the way.

 

Funny thing is Braithwaite is one of two men to drop Sunny Edwards lol
