Good stoppage, McCloskey was a sitting duck after that shot landed and didnt regain anything resembling composure until IJL had pushed him back to the ropes. The only reason Corley didnt follow up and splatter McCloskey after the initial attack was the presence of the referee, that confusion prevented McCloskey from getting chiseled off the mat and will allow him to come again, good call in my honest opinion.

I dunno should he retire but he's in a tough spot now. Where does he go now and who needs him tbh?? Not the most exciting style that's for sure so I dunno is he willing to drop down to euro level or move up to welter where theres prob more attractive fights to be had

I'm not a McCloskey hater, I don't mind the guy but he's seriously flawed but what i will say he was a good European and British Champion but when people say Euro level fighter he's in a division that is quite weak really on European scene so the step up to world class is even harder then other divisions and he's been caught in step up between European and International class.

No shame in that, he just needs realistic ambitions i think making Khan miss a lot in fight made them think Dudey's better then he really is.

46:20 for the stoppage. McCloskey was doing a funny dance and didn't look like he wanted to fight. Looks like IJL was jumping in as McC wanted it stopped then changed his mind. :conf

Its fair to say however that IJL's initial hesitation made the stoppage look worse than it actually was, if he's going to have a look a McCloskey he has to do it whilst not interfering with the action, it was still the right call.

Another premature British stoppage, he was dazed but had been hurt before wnd recovered, i had him ahead by a round before this, stoppages like this are killing british boxing.

Nobody was winning easy. Depends on what you like. I had Corley winning, but I prefer quality to quantity. No question McCloskey was doing more, but Corley was landing better shots. It was still all to play for at the time of the stoppage, which was a bit bizaare due to the way IJL did it, but IMO if he hadn't have stopped it McCloskey would have been KO'ed shortly after.
