Louis was of course far "greater," and more skilled to boot, but this is a surprisingly bad matchup for him.
Louis was a killer in his prime. A proven top 5 Heavyweight champion and a top p4p fighter. Ike is bigger and stronger but so what that doesnt mean much in my book. I got Louis by KO. I still marvel at Joe's combination punching and im honestly not even a big Louis fan at all.
lol at these match ups. Louis would be seeing stars in rnd one, just watch the Braddock fight.Louis hands down waist level /parry style going to get him hurt in this one. It would look like a little boy vs a grown man come on now...louis would need to be about 225 pounds minimum just to keep this guy off him.In his prime he was 190/205 pounds. IF Louis was 6'3 230 than yea he has a shot but in reality ? No. If Baer is knocking him out of the ring and a short fat guys who just lunges knocking him down than what is the outcome of a much bigger puncher going to do?Louis chin doesnt remotley hold up here nor is there a fight to suggest it would. If below 200 pound Braddock knocked down giant Ike you guys would use THAT fight to throw as evidence to how louis would demolish him, you will simply ignore that over 6'2 Ike was a 240 pound super heavy weight and was also able to land on EXTREMELY difficult Byrd unile stationary louis...SMH!...lol i honestly think ppl in this section think All time Great ( Louis was) is a skill...im starting to believe it. lol
Ibeabuchi never once used his size. Louis was a better puncher, faster, smarter, more accurate, a better counter puncher. There isn't one thing Ibeabuchi does better.
I think Louis was too sharp, but he'd get some scares. I think Sonny Liston would probably kick Ibeabuchi's ass.
Agreed, Louis shadow completely covers anything Ike did in the ring. But Louis wasn't unbeatable as Schmeling proved to a coming into prime Louis. Factor in the many times he was dropped, this fantasy fight would've been very dangerous for Louis, and probably ended in disaster for him.
We are talking the best Louis. The best Louis loses to very few ATG HWT CHAMPIONS. He is not losing at his best to any contender.
Louis had many title fights.....so he might have not been 100% up for all of them. Louis vs Schmeling 2 was probably his most destructive.
louis gives ike a boxing lesson. unless you are one of these people who go by the theory of "fat people are the best boxers eva!" in which case ike wins by some kind of ko early on. But in real world yeh louis handles ike comfortably.
The confidence in Ibeabuchi from some quarters is remarkable. His abilities became mythical because he went to jail as a unbeaten prospect.
I agree. P4p Louis is so much better. People have forgotten why there are weight divisions and this is an example
