Lol I love how you've put Carnera in there to. This could turn out to be a unmissable thread.

Hopefully we get some contributions from Carnera advocates and the Ike fanatics.

I'm actually open minded on this one.
Ike seemed a better fighter but his entire reputation seems to hang on wins over 5'9 Tua and the smallish Byrd.
Carnera, despite his flaws, obviously brings something radically different here !

Tua is 5'10" and was 226lbs for Ike, not exactly little.

    Oh my.

    Oh my oh my.

    Oh dear.

This could be comparable with deciding what actually happened to the planes and ships that disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle...

On one hand we have Primo, a lighter regarded actual champion but also top four among the giant sized champions against a "could be" guy.

Ike looked good in a fight that was not deciding who is the best active heavyweight. It was a fight to decide who was the better prospect.

It's like the Cassius Clay v Billy Daniels fight. Or it could be like a fight between two prospects where neither one went on to become a champion.

So Ibeabuchi also knocked out Chris Byrd.

Knocking out Chris Byrd? Well that could be just like Bernardo Mercado knocking out Trevor Berbick. Nobody else knocked out Berbick. Not Holmes, not Page, not Pinklon Thomas, not John Tate. Berbick went on to prove to have a second best kind of resume for his eraafter a Larry Holmes with the guys he beat yet he had that loss to Bernardo Mercardo.

Now Imagine Mercardo never fought again? Maybe he gets included in head to head fights with Anthony Joshua or champions from yesteryear?

Okay, maybe an inch taller than I rememered.
Still, that's about 8 inches shorter than Carnera, so my point stands.

Carnera was 6'6 270 lbs of muscle and conditioned to fight 15. He is simply too big for the little 6'2 235 lb Ibeabuchi.

Was he too big for the 6'2.5" 210lbs Max Baer?lol
Ike threw nearly a 1000 punches against Tua,he had no problems with stamina.

Doesn't matter. Ibeabuchi is too primitive. Size is the only thing that matters and Primo has the advantage.

You might point out that Ibeabuchi was bigger than Baer, but Ibeabuchi was a skillesss oaf (it is obvious from the film), so the normal laws of physics do not apply.

Therefore Carnera was a superheavyweight monster, and anybody smaller would be overwhelmed.
