I don't completely buy this answer but the point is that heavyweight fighters are bigger and better than they were in the '50's. Let's get back on the fight we are discussing.

    Better is subjective....

So is "bigger" depending on your definition.

Sometimes they are subjective and other times it's not. It's not subjective that Lewis is bigger than Marciano and it's not subjective that Lewis is more skilled than Grant.

This has everything to do with the thread. It explains that fighters from the time period being discussed wouldn't be the same size as back in the 1950s.

    Why does that matter though?

Because there was a debate as to how big Ibeabuchi and Tua would be in the 50s. I provided the most valid evidence so far out of all of y'all as to why they would be smaller and closer to Marciano's size.

Didn't know I was debating such a thing because I don't see how it matters.

No one's saying to project whatever version of Marciano you wish to conjure up we are merely dealing with the two fighters as they existed. So please try and limit all of these red herrings and focus on the question of the OP.

It's a complete red herring. Nobody else, including me, was having that particular debate, rather l believe almost all of us were merely focusing on the question first asked.

this debate revolves around one question "physique or substance". and its not even debatable which is the substance and which is the physique. unfortunately it takes many people a long time to learn which counts the most. but its not their fault.

If you're right what difference does that make to the matchup of Marciano v Ibeabuchi? You take each man as he was ,not some mythical ,hypothetical, cloned, version. It has no bearing on the title of the thread

Imagine if we transport Bryd, Ibeabuchi and Tua back in time far enough for them to take up boxing at the age they were in real life when they took up boxing so that they could each reach a prime together in the 1950s?

Bryd would be 160lb. Tua would be 190lb and Ibeabuchi maybe 200lb. They dont have access to training advances that created their physiques but their just as tall.

Imagine if we don't. Just transport the three of them back in time as they were. They would be the same guys with bigger muscles.

Nobody ever said Jack Dempsey or Joe Louis needed to have bigger muscles.

    But the question is.
Ibeabuchi as he actually was ,matched against Marciano as he actually was!
So your detour is not only spurious ,it is totally irrelevant.

No one has mentioned muscles except you!

Is there something you want to share with us Chokky?

All we are getting is wriggle ,wriggle ,wriggle. It's ludicrous! Imagine if this, imagine if that ,what about if !

Imagine if they just answered the question posed in the thread?
    That would be a first!:patsch

This debate revolves around one thing, and one thing only ,a matchup between two fighters as they actually were when they were boxing.
All the rest is just BULL SH*T!

Unfortunately some can't bring themselves to address the question asked by the original poster.
And it absolutely is completely their fault , because they are being evasive, disingenous ,and down right dishonest!
