one guy is faster, has better stamina, is about 15 pounds heavier, and is the more skilled boxer but he only had 20 fights. I'd go with the bigger, faster, more skilled guy who has better stamina. The people who think resume overcomes skill and talent will disagree.

I think I’ll pick Ibeabuchi. Ike proved his chin and that he was capable of throwing 1000 punches while going 12. It’s a styles thing.

Name them. Frazier was pretty undersized, same with Peralta, and other that we’re talking about either limited or chinny opposition.

That one would be a clash. I think Foreman has raech and a better jab over Ike, but Ike can be favored over the last 5 rounds.

 

The two notable guys Ibeabuchi beat, one with tremendous difficulty, where both 5'10". Flip this around, and we have no idea whatsoever if Ike could handle a Foreman sized guy or 6'3" or 6'4", with a very punishing jab.

Lyle also had a great chin before Foreman busted it. Ali stopped him, but it was a quick stoppage thing--one of the many fights of the later 70's that Ali probably should have lost but for the help of the ref and judges. Lyle afterall stood up to the punches of Shaver, Bonavena, and Quarry.

By 1974 George Foreman had knocked out the two best heavyweights in the world. Norton and Frazier had both defeated the great Muhammad Ali. That’s right, Muhammad Ali. George just blew them both away. Snuffed them out. There was nobody better to beat (that convincingly) at that point.

Who was the best guy that Tua or Byrd had beat when Ike met them? Ike had a disputed decision with Tua and knocked out Chris Byrd, both of whom were mere prospects at the time and neither went as close to becoming the worlds best. And That’s it. This is all there is to go on with Ike, a certain drugs cheat candidate if ever there was one.

I believe all anyone-can say is that if Ike could have produced wins over more relevant fighters at that time then conceivably he might have as many tools as Ron Lyle had to be problematic to George Foreman. But this is a big reach.

On the strength of two fights, It’s far less of a reach to say without PEDs nobody would have heard of Ike IBeabuchi.
