Could have gone either way from what I remember. Career best performance for both. The number of solid power shots thrown and landed by each man was truly staggering for a heavyweight fight.

Ike was not buzzed. I watch every fight in life objectively. Going in, nobody knew about Ike other than him fighting Marion Wilson which was the only fight I saw of Ike before Tua. Ike looked ok in that fight. I was looking for Tua to impress because I liked Tua, and I came away thinking Ike could be a future world champion after he won. The announcersI had no agenda going in picking Ike, meaning I had to watch it objectively. The 11th round which I'm watching right now, Tua caught Ike with a big left before the bell, and Ike was NOT wobbled.

on a round by round basis, Ike won on my scorecard

but overall I felt Tua was the better man that night

Carles, I don't know how to do it, but if you know how...put up a youtube showing of this fight. Ike clearly won.

"Wobbled" isn't the right word I guess.
In the end of round 11 Tua caught him with a big left hook followed by a hard right, Ike tried to hold and leaned on him, Tua moved out of the way and you could see Ike lost his balance for a second, but that's just about it.

Think about it like this not that this is saying anything. Tua was a hot prospect at the time and being groomed by HBO and had a couple of early ko's on HBO. Ike comes out of nowhere to win a unanimous decision. I remember Merchant even dissing Ike before the fight. Why would 3 judges pick Ike over Tua uanimously in a close fight, and Tua is being groomed as a top prospect??? Was it bad scoring? No, not even close. Merchant was disagreeing with Lederman a lot of times about how the fight was going, and Merchant was bigging Ike up the whole fight. Lederman never gets the scores right anyway lol...The HBO hype crew could not hype Tua as much as they liked because Ike did so well. Tua at times did very well mid to late rounds, but Ike would come right back when Tua got off. Ike clearly won in my book. There isn't a shadow of doubt he won a unanimous decision.

Now that is a man who saw the fight. Tua was never wobbled either. Tua was hurt to the body as he bent over once or twice, but he would just jump back inside and stay close to Ike. Ike at the time was bigger than Tua too. Ike was 6'2 235 to Tua's like 5' 10 225. He could not push Ike around. Tua would throw soft shots trying to gather himself, and then would unload with bombs only to see Ike come back after Tua got off, and this was how the fight pretty much went.

I thought Tua won, the fight was close but it was a draw at best. Tua hurt Ike pretty damn bad in the fight and landed the more meaningful shots. This fight ruined Ike, he was brain damaged after and went into his crazy stage shortly after.

That should tell you who won the fight. :good

Those of you that say Tua won can't score a fight, and probably didn't even see the fight. Sorry...I just don't believe you guys when you say you saw this fight and say Tua won.
