No... but I don't have to. My point stands either way, Tua took double digits to stop Izon, Rahman and Maskeav. All chinny guys.

David Tua... The man, the myth, the monster! Fear his inability to stop Chris Byrd!!! :ibutt:ibutt:ibutt:ibutt

I can't prove that just like you, or anyone, can prove any of the hypotheticals on here. **** poor way to try and win an argument.

Just as **** And poor like your argument saying that these 3 guys could duplicate what Tua did and saying that his power is overrated

Yes yes, it's almost as if you have no argument and can't refute that Tua's legendary power didn't actually achieve anything that special.

Why does a late stoppage indicate he doesn't have power? If he isn't landing his punches for rounds and still stops an opponent when he catches up to them, his power is legit.

Also Ruiz was a future title holder and Moorer was an ex-champion both taken out in about a minute. No one else did that to either man. Only man to stop Nate Tubbs, who puncher Corey Sanders lost to.

I’d pick Tyson by KO before the 10th round

Thing is, I've seen the fights... He did land the punches, they just didn't have an effect until late.
Okay? Ruiz was meh and Moorer was shot, small and chinny.

You're bigging up a win over Nate Tubbs? If that's the level you're stooping to surely you can see why his power is overrated.

Tua is one of the few in the game who left loads of opponents out cold, all hi kos, note how many are out cold

I'm bigging up that he took out a durable guy quickly. Same with Sullivan, went 9 with Vitali/GRant but got took out in 1 by Tua.

I don't think he was landing his biggest punches against Rahman, Maskeev, Oquendo until the final round or 2

As we saw in the thread where i asked who Ike managed to stop, people basically defended his resume pointing out how slick and skilled Byrd was completely ignoring the near 40 pound weight difference or that Byrd didn't have the punching power to keep a behemoth like Ike off of him.

The other common strategy of Ike defenders is to milk out the Tua fight. The problem with this is Tua certainly hit hard...but we're kind of using circular logic. Ike is durable and hits hard because he fought Tua without going down and Tua is durable and hits hard...because he fought Ike...? How does that work?

Neither man has many feats of endurance or power at the elite level outside of this fight. At least Tua had a few decent KO's over mid tier guys like Ruiz and a cheap shot against Rahman, but the elephant in the room is that he simply lacks KO's against elite opposition. You can't use a fight where neither guy goes down as proof of punching power! To defend Ike against one of the deadliest 2 fisted h2h champions of all time, the only course of action is to speculate, overrate, and milk out the Tua fight since the only other elite win (Byrd) has no relevance in this kind of matchup.

It gets worse considering that even if you want to argue Tua had comparable power and chin, Tyson is irrefutably a full league ahead of Tua in terms of defense, timing, accuracy, hand speed, head movement, and technique. You know, silly little X factors that don't matter in professional fights. So...if Ike barely got a decision in that fight, what convincing logical argument can you make to claim he'd beat Tyson?

I agree entirely. The pace that fight was fought at, the distance used for fast exchanges, completely negated powerful blows from landing. The two of them came out of the fight without a scratch on them!

Today Ike even says himself he should have sat down on his punches more in that fight. And Threw less than he did. But he just didn’t have the experience to properly understand.

yes it was entertaining TV action for casual fans, but real aficionados of boxing can see that ibeabuchi vs Tua was not a genuine slugfest that defies ordinary durability. A lot of Quality was sacrificed for quantity of punch, it’s clear to see.
