I think this fight would be a war. Punches going back and forth. Just like when he fought Tua. Except Galento would be more aggressive, thus making this matchup even more explosive. Who wins?

Galento wouldn't be able to match Ike's workrate. The only way Galento wins is if Ike slips to the canvas and Two Ton $hitbag sits on him and farts. Ike disintegrates.;)

This would be Ike ****ing up Tony Galento, stronger overall era (Galento's era moreso just top heavy with Louis, whereas the 90s had ridiculous amounts of talent), and also anabolic steroids differential

Now to say one thing, I do think Galento would be stylistically uncomfortable for Ike

But regardless, Ike is stopping him

Galento is not surviving the war Ike had with Tua.

Why not? Galento had an iron chin, just like Tua. He had a vicious left hook, just like Tua. Fought out of a crouch, just like Tua. The signs are all there.

Preference for a left hook is not what allows a fighter to survive a career-altering war like Tua-Ibeabuchi, and boxing is complicated enough so that when judged by certain macro metrics fighters appear similar, but become increasingly set apart from each other the more wrinkles and layers you consider. David had much better head movement, more proactive, fluid guard, and is further set apart by explosiveness and hand-speed. He controls the space out of the crouch better with jab and the likes, and he had a better punch selection and overall combination punching.

That, and there are levels to good chins. Tua have never been stopped, and the fight with Ike had an absolutely ridiculous punch stat of 1730 combined thrown blows. Cuts aside, Tony was only stopped by murderous punchers in Louis, Max, and Buddy (well, a ghost of Max), and while there is no shame in that, I wouldn't say it supports a case he could survive such a beating either.

I like Tony. I rate Tony. I think he was a legit fighter with good gauge of distance and the likes, but I don't think he is in for such trenches.

Is that Dempsey or Joe Louis in your avatar? It looks like it's probably Louis, but oddly enough it looks like it's definitely one or the other despite that fact that they look nothing like each other.

It is Joe Louis, but i understand what you mean, Dempsey has alot of famous pictures of his back in a similar pose, and both Dempsey and Louis were pretty swarthy

Dempsey funnily enough was probably darker than Louis

Yeah, Dempsey was supposedly part Cherokee Indian, but in some photos he has such a strong farmer tan that it looks like he's still wearing the shirt that crated the tanlines, lol.

He was part native yeah, on top of being outside frequently, as most boxing camps would take place outside back in those days, and it was a big deal to get "reconnected" with nature

Louis by comparison, was a very pale lightskin man. If you ever see his mom, shes nearly mistakably white with how lightskin she is
