LOL, as I recall, the Ibeabuchi-Tua fight holds the record for most punches thrown in a HW bout. As I recall, they each threw close to 100/round..and these weren't the pitty-pat jabs Vitali likes to throw. All of these punches had KO written on them. :yep
Ike Ibeabuchi is possibly the single most overrated heavyweight ever, Lewis would of absolutely spanked him and Vitali would stomp him something real bad.
I had the Byrd fight even before the knockout, and Byrd was still developing himself. I'd pick an 01 Byrd to beat Ike in a rematch despite the 30-40 lb weight difference- Chris showed his improvement in how he handled Tua clearly.
:goodi agree, i think Vitali very much found his prime when he fought Lewis, he was forced to fight at a higher level than what he had done before, its fairs to say that he passed the test, maybe Ike would have been a little too much for a green Vitali in 99, nothing is definate when predicting this fight, a prediction can only be made on assumptions, ifs and buts. Would Ike have handled Vitali's size and presence? Would Vitali find a new level much in the same way he did against Lewis?. Cant see why some people are getting upset by others opinion on this thread, its a good fantasy matchup that posses allot of questions about both fighters.
Compared to Ike, Prime Lewis, Prime Tyson, Prime Holmes, Prime Holyfield, and of course, ALI, they are slow as drying donkey shet. :yep
Byrd would just get KO'ed again. Against someone slower, who threw less punches with fewer punch combinations, Byrd's defense was great. Against someone like IKE, who threw fast and complex combinations, Byrd would finally catch one, and that would be all she wrote, exactly like the first fight. In fact, Byrd was never quite the same following his fight with Ike.
I think Ike by TKO in 3rd maybe 4th if lewis manage to disassembly klitschko face in 6th round Ike would have done it more quickly
This is one of my dream fights. I think Vitali takes it in a war, with neither guy taking a backwards step. The staredown alone would be epic.
Unlike your typical Klit fight, that particular bout is what we call, COMPETITIVE, between two of the most promising up and coming heavyweight, either of which would have handed either Klit their asses. David Tua proved in that fight that he had the heart of a real fighter, although I would say the fight took a lot out of him. The fight broke the record for the most punches thrown in a heavyweight bout, and the only Klit fight by either brother that was as entertaining was the Vitali-Lewis bout. Of course neither Ike or David were facing a past prime fighter. They both were on their way to gaining more experience before facing and whipping Klitscho ass. Then out of nowhere came the legal troubles for both boxers, saving the Klit girl's asses.:yep
