If Foreman can I am sure this guy can. Difference is that Foreman was mentally stable, had mega power, was bigger than Ike and started 5 years earlier also at age 38. Still I am sure there is enough power and muscle memory remaining to have somewhat of a decent comeback.
Last I heard of him was he and Ruiz were going to fight, guess that didn't pan out. Would have been good too. Ruiz has the looks of a gatekeeper at most, would have said more about how gone Ike was than how good Ruiz is, though. Any rumors who he'll fight if he does come back?
Ibeabuchi's heavyweight run will probably end up like other old fighters like Oliver Mccall or Razor Ruddock. Usually they cannot fight that often so they can't rise back up through the ranks so they are easily avoided, and a B or C level younger heavyweight might outpoint them and derail their comeback at any time. This is why Briggs has to try so hard to get a decent matchup for him. So at best a gatekeeper. I doubt Ibeabuchi can throw anywhere near enough punches to avoid getting decisioned by a decent heavyweight. So many of these fighters just get the run around. In the best of circumstances he'd need really smart matchmaking. I just don't see it, I wish him luck.
He looks in incredible shape and sounds like a man possessed in usurping by any means necessary what he feels was wrongfully taken from him.
I was thinking the same thing. Briggs would have to refrain from yelling at Ibeabuchi though, the President would brawl with him for sure. Ike would blow a This content is protected gasket!
I'm pretty sure he's in full training mode. At his age and genetics, he probably won't drop no more than 5-7lb from his current weight. As long as he recovers 60-70% of his stamina, the extra weight will help him in the durability and power department.
He looks like he's been smashing the tin for sure, his chest looks huge. Can't wait to see him in the ring, hopefully he hasn't lost too much speed.
