And the overating treads of Quartey continues, wow he was a good fighter but nothing special, every inactive and retired fighter would beat any current fighter just because they established his carrer. Wow now i will start with one Frankie Randall vs Floyd, Cotto and Margo. Almost every one will vote for Frankie just because is a established retired fighter.

The problem with Quartey is that he was too dependent on his left hand. Quartey just doesn't know to throw a straight right (or any right hand punch for that matterr). Clottey can throw any type of punch, whether be a triple left-hook or a straight right. When Quartey fought Wright he became easily predictable because he was often using his left hand and that's a no no against southpaws. Fighters who are too dependent on their left hand should just swith to the southpaw stance. If Quartey fought Clottey prime 4 prime, I say Clottey would win.

    Why?

Both were close fights but he lost them fair and square IMO!

Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, **** even Margarito who's bigger and would probably out work him late in the fight.

You'd pick Margarito over the 90's version of Quartey..?

You're a moron, plain and simple.

And Spitbucket, not way in hell Forrest beat Quartey. The DLH fight was close, but I also had Quartey winning it by 1 point. No way Forrest did enough to get the win though.

Mayweather would be at the end of Quartey's jab all night. The jab alone would cause Mayweather major problems and then add in the fact he can't hurt Quartey or potshot him effectively.

Cotto couldn't outjab Quartey or win in a tactical match from the outside, he couldn't apply pressure against Quartey and find great success because Quartey is physically bigger and stronger, nor could get box effectively off the backfoot because Quartey wouldn't give him room to breathe and would be right there in front of him.

Mosley has always been susceptible to bigger fighters with excellent jabs. Quartey fits this billing and would beat him similar to the way Forrest was able to in two fights.

Margarito would never beat Quartey. His immense struggles against a broke-man's Quartey in Clottey prove this. He'd be at the end of Quartey's jab all night and he couldn't penetrate his turtle shell defense with his wide, slow punches. Margarito lost to Paul Williams for Christ's sake. And Paul Williams isn't 1/3 of what a prime Ike Quartey was.

He lost them fair and square, yes, solely because the judges verdict gave Forrest and De La Hoya the victory. But he should have beaten Forrest according to a vast majority of people. And most (including myself) had him beating De La Hoya in a close one.

Margarito so far has beaten Trinidad in the polls and now people are suggesting he beats Quartey. ****..bring on Williams, Santos, Jones, Dixon and Lozoya!

He had good speed, good stamina, and a pretty good chin. What are you basing this off of?

Fight was close enough to go either way but saying most had it for quartey always sounds dubious and unsubstantiated!

Quartey was good. Very good. But he missed his chance at greatness by failing to KO Oscar De La Hoya when he had the chance.
