Quartey was just flat-out better. I'd fully expect this to go 12, but I'd be confident in saying Clottey wouldn't win any rounds clearly if we're talking Quartey at his best.

 

Quartey is better that Clottey by immense proportions in EVERY facet of the game.

immense proportions? dont think so. They have identical styles. Although Quartey is definitive a better fighter overall no question.

 

clottey is a dangerous fighter. didnt get the manegment until after a 9 year career in no mans land. one of the best left uppercuts since terry norris. almost surgical like punches with a cliffs of dover defence. always a hard buy.

but agaisnt the more technical and talented guy with the far superior jab it has to be quartey.
quartey is most definitely the 2nd best ghanaian export after nelson. but really he is one of the greatest welters of the 90's. he was avoided and given patchy choices of fights. we lost a total of 5 years of good prime years at welter and lightmiddle.


anyways. quartey by ud. with some strong exchanges from both that possibly clottey could get the better of at points.

 

you got to be ****ing kidding me. Just because a guy has a high guard defense, it makes him the same? they DON'T have identical styles. Quartey's offense was on a different league, He ACTUALLY fought guys. Clottey is a damn punching bag FFS. And I also think that Cotto vs Quartey would have been an absolute war specifically because Quartey didn't hit THAT hard + he opened up MUCH more than weak ass Clottey. Cotto had to tee away on Clottey and gas out, during a period in which he was rebuilding his career, hence why he looked like ****.
