Haven't seen that fight in ages, thanks for sharing.

Quartey was lucky to have kept his title that night.

Lopes' career was a dissapoinment, too bad had a bigger appetite for surfing and pot than for boxing,

Fantastic fight. If only Lopez threw more punches...

If Lopez would of just been more focused on his career. Ike was very fortunate that night, great jab though.

  6. What a jab on the part of Quartey and what chin, power and sturdiness on the part of Lopez. Fought as high as 168 later in his career. Lopez would've beaten Trinidad and Vargas if he put his mind to it.

One of the most underrated fights out there along with James Page vs Jose Luis Lopez.

I still shake my head :-( at what Lopez could have been. He had better than average speed, dynamite in his fists, a granite chin, knew how to fight, but lacked the one essential element to be one of the greats to come out of Mexico. He just seemed to lack the desire. That or he was just burned out. I believe he started fighting at 15 or so. I know he loved surfing and smoking pot, but I also heard he liked to sniff that nose candy too. What a shame. I would have loved to have seen JLL vs DLH, Trinidad, JCC, Mayorga, Margarito, Vargas, Forrest, Mosley, Mayweather, and Pac.

This was the only time I have seen Quartey hurt he was a solid welter with probably one of the best jab I ever seen much credit to Lopez for dropping him couple times he was robbed that night remains me to Lucas Mattiesee never got the nod on close fights.
