Personally, I don't think believe it would make much of a difference. I followed Taylor's pro career very closely. And well before the Chavez fight, it always struck me how easily he was getting hit by 2nd raters on his way to the title shot. He always seemed to stay on a spot too long, relying on his overwhelming hand speed, he'd get in 5 or 6 punches to a opponents 1 or 2. That was fine against 2nd tier competition, but his lack of power with that speed, and the defensive laspes he showed when he delivered those incredible combinations, I always thought would eventually catch up to him against an ATG. And it did, against Chavez. While I don't consider Quartey a great fighter, at his best, he was a big , strong welterweight, with quick hands , featuring one of the better, most powerful jabs in the history of the division, which he used very well. I don't believe Taylor , even without the beating he took from Chavez beats Quartey prime vs prime. Or, I'll add many of the better top ten ranked welterweights from many era's.
