ROBBERY is ridiculous. I just rewatched this fight last night, and just like last time going into the 11th round I had it 5-5. I felt Oscar won the 11th and 12th round. I can see a draw for Quartey as a few of the middle rounds were close. And if I'm biased towards Quartey perhaps a win for him can possibly be mustered up, but in no way a robbery, that is ridiculous. Also, it should be mentioned that anytime the ropes keep you from hitting the canvas by the rules it is considered a KD, and when Oscar had Quartey against the ropes in the 12th, Quartey bounced from them atleast once and should have been ruled a KD. Oscar De La Hoya is ****ing dope for fighting EVERYONE at 147 in his short stay there.
Na, Quartey was miles ahead before the 12th. Oscar was very tense & was being soundly beaten, ignore the crowd yelling & focus on the boxing 8-4 Quartey
Oscar arguably swept the first 3 rounds rather easy. There was only a couple rounds where Quartey won clearly.
I had Quartey by a point. It was a great fight and Oscar came on strong at the end in a great effort. I still disagree with the decision. A rematch would have been nice.
Oxymoron Oscar looked like **** early on, Oscars Dad didnt score the 1st 3 rounds for him Watch it again without listening to the crowd & commentary, since that seems to be blinding your judgement
How did you score the sixth? I scored it 9-8 for Quartey, they both traded KDs DLHs was a flash Ikes was a solid KD, hurt Oscar and Ike finished the fight strong. The 12th you could easily score that round 10-7 for DLH, No robbery your not going to win a close decision when you get knocked down in the last round and battered for the rest of the round.
True. Quartey wasn't the killer he normally was. I think Oscar's attack in the first few rounds established the tempo in which the fight was going to be fought. I think Quartey is highly underrated, and had he fought in todays era he would have been a top dog rather than being in the shadows of Whitaker, Trinidad, Oscar and Mosley in the 90's. Hell, I think he beats Pacquiao easily, and he would defitnately give Floyd huge fits, possibly beating him.
I gave the 6th to Quartey as well. Oscar was a bit more shaken up in the sixth and resorted to getting his head cleared. He wasn't a badly hurt as quartey was in the 12th though, and had the ropes not been there, Quartey would have been dropped yet again.
Nope. Oscar won the 12th 10-8. Oscar was mostly punching at air during his flurry and Ike came back in the last minute of that round.
