Beat me to it, my sentiments exactly, we've done this one before i'm sure. Picking Quartey over Trinidad does not make sense for me, Quartey is simply too game for his own good in that one. Facing one of the very best finishers of all time with a murderous and accurate as hell shot isn't a great situation when you are as you say, a one dimensional fighter, despite being a world class one.

Problem is: I, like many others, don't feel Oscar won at all.

Phillips who was a crackhead who would clearly blow hot and cold so a win over him is very hard to gage. The version that took out Tyszu only appeared once imo.

Ike Quartey got robbed in the DelaHoya and Forrest decisions.

I don't care what anyone says, if Ike and Oscar fought 20 or 30 years ago, Delahoya would have never got that decision win. Delahoya won the fight because it was staged in Las Vegas and the refs paid more attention to the crowd noise. How anyone cannot see Quartey clearly winning that fight, especially since he dominated from the 6th round, is beyond my imagination. It's just plain wrong, and Oscar was overtly protected by the sport at Quartey, Whitaker and Felix Sturm's expense. How can anyone explain the "chickening out" of rematches with these three fighters? Quartey richly deserved a rematch against DelaHoya and it never happened. Sturm kicked Oscar's butt all over the ring, but was denied the victory because Oscar was already signed for a big money match against Hopkins? DelaHoya should have lost that big payday with Hopkins and given Sturm the rematch he so richly deserved.

116-112 De La Hoya has to be up there with the worst cards in recent memory.

Honestly, I'd rather have seen the ref stop it in the 12th than have to ponder how anyone paid to be remotely neutral saw an 8-4 win for Oscar. Don't tell me he won the 6th either.

Quartey's fight with Carr was superb. All action with lots of punches. Excellent match.

i know Quartey was past his prime abit. But i think Wrights win over him is very underrated he dominated him in every way and was the first clear defeat of Ikes career

Vargas clearly beat Ike. Clearly. That verdict wasn't disputed. For every round Quartey won, Vargas won two or thereabouts.

Yeah the Carr fight is one of Ike's best performances. He beat the crap outta Carr pretty one sidely. Unlike DLH, and Tito, who both struggled with Carr.

Vargas beat Quartey clearly. Although Ike did have his moments, and had Vargas stunned in the 9th.

I thought Carr gave Ike a decent fight. Very competitive, but clear.

Carr was fun to watch. He threw good combinations and mixed it up, he just couldnt crack an egg. Quartey was good but robotic. I dont know of too many successful fighters who fight so flat footed, maybe Michael Moorer was another one, but Moorer could throw a little more than a jab and righthand.
