I'm a big Ike Williams fan. Can someone suggest a good place to start watching Ortiz?

From what is relatively easy to find I recommend the following fights of his:

Ismael Laguna III - his finest performance IMO came a little after his peak and while you’re at it you might as well watch their first fight. Unfortunately the second I don’t believe is out there. Same with Elorde I, Ramos II.

Joe Brown - Not the most thrilling fight but it’s a very important one to his career dethroning a legend

    Flash Ellorde II
    Sugar Ramos I
    Battling Torres
    Johnny Bizzaro
    Kenny Lane II

I’ve got very brief highlights of two of the Loi fights plus Locche fight highlights but I’m not sure the full fights are there and if they are they are very difficult to find. He also has a lot of fights before he was lightweight champ that are worth watching like his really close fight with Paolo Rossi.

Ortiz was a complete fighter and a very smart one. Not the most explosive style as he wasn’t the quicker nor was a he a big one shot KO guy that’s probably why he’s often overlooked in the all-time great lightweight discussions and greatest Puerto Rican discussions often have him sold a little short. He was a master in re-matches. He wasn’t the most disciplined fighter but if he was dialed in like he often was in re-matches he’s an incredibly hard match for anyone.

Of all the fights available I think the Battling Torres fight would be a great place to start since Ortiz was young, and at his peak. He took Torres apart with clinical mastery. The full fight is on YouTube.

Yeah that’s a great one to start with.
