Good quality, AI coloured work of Ike Williams courtesy of d brown's channel.

Ike looks very calculating here, but possibly susceptible to a mover. Though Ike apparently had to hold back on fighters courtesy of the mob. Anyone know of Bolanos?

Bolanos is one of those fighters that is generally named in lists regarding top 10 lightweight contenders. He and Ike fought like 3 times. I'm not sure if all 3 were for the title, but he was always solidly ranked and was one of the biggest drawing cards on the west coast in the 40s. He had a big rivalry with Art Aragon, who was another top drawing card and also one of the great lightweight contenders. You can see in this beautiful film that he had nice combos. I really loved the clarity of this film.

Ike looks pretty wooden on his feet, not really great at cutting off the ring by this point. Does more following than commanding. Gets caught with a lot of lefts, too, with that right hand low and not too much movement above the waist.

Never bought into Williams quite as much as some. He's a great but not Duran/Leonard level.

    I know, sacrilege.
