The 2 fisted punching machine boxer/brawler against the elusive fast-handed boxer. Could Williams batter Laguna with his fast combinations or would Laguna outfox Williams with his movement and speed?
Tough style matchup for Williams, who seemed like a killer when guys came at him. But Laguna wouldn't come at him, and his handspeed and jab present problems for Ike from long range. Williams is the better/greater fighter, but there's a possibility of a Laguna upset.
Williams UD. The problem for Laguna here is he's against an expert cutter off of the ring. Against a man with a long powerful jab and against one of the best guys at putting his shots together once in range. Laguna, for my money, doesn't have the athelticism you would need to stay away from Ike.
I don't know if Willie Joyce did have it. I don't know the circumstances around his victories, whether Williams was cuffed or not, how legitimate they were or not, what style he employed to get the job done. But triangle theories are always dangerous regardless. I just don't see the way Laguna boxes, being enough to beat Williams with the way he boxes.
