I think McLarnin takes this, he was a excellent boxer in his own right and was the better welterweight between the two of them and had far more success at the weight. Williams has the edge in height, reach and power, but Jimmy knew how to work his way inside those long arms and would have done just that and taken away that edge from Ike so that he couldnt get as much leverage into his punches. McLarnin had the ring smarts to stay away from Ike`s bombs and the durability to take a few of them as well if he got nailed, and with his better footwork and strenght I think he would have defeated Ike by making this an inside kind of fight were Ike never gets the distance he needs to operate effectively behind his jab. I`ll take McLarnin by decision winning by a margin of about 9 rounds to 6 at the finish.
Mclarnin ,great Welter very fine boxer ,with real pop in his right hand ,he might even stop the great Ike.
I agree with Sweet Pea except a decision, Williams is more impressive on film than McLarnin to my eyes.
