He would get by both with devastating knockouts.

Prime Ike destroys Bramble or Mancini..Ike Williams was the best lightweight i ever saw...Different class of boxer than tough Bramble and Mancini.

Ike stops both, and ,he dresses Mancini up for it first.

They might have a chance if they high/low Williams and take him down...

ike williams is likely behind only duran, leonard, and armstrong as the greatest lightweight of all time. mancini wouldn't be a fight but a butchery. bramble has a granite chin so he might survive til the final bell if the williams that fought carter shows up

Talking of Jimmy Carter... He's probably a more even match up for Bramble & Mancini - but he'd still win. I could see a couple of grinding, late round knockouts.

I'd say Carter, at his best, would go neck and neck with Julio Cesar Chavez or Alexis Arguello.

that's high praise indeed, what do you make of carter's inconsistency? an effect of the times or poor discipline?

More like being controlled by the Mob. He'd lose to make way for another star fighter, or lose to make way for a big rematch. A harsh situation to be in.

This. If it's Bramble and Mancini fighting him at the same time, it's pick 'em.

That's right. He had no choice in the matter really... Williams tried to start a boxer's guild (like the manager's guild) but to no avail. Facing a potential blackballing, he had to go with Blinky. The problem now is that we don't know if Williams was 'just' a genuine great or a potential top ten all-time. Quite a few of the old folk rate him the best lightweight ever, or near it.
