Williams did lose more. I know Bob Montgomery beat him on his way up. Williams avenged it though. There are some questions surrounding Ike Williams career regarding fighting with handcuffs and maybe having to throw some fights. It`s hard to say.

Maybe Burt could shed some light on that subject.

Why is there no options for DQ, Technical decision, technical draw, or No Contest?

Where is the "Delay by Fan Man" option?

Very hard fight to call. I think Williams is one of the only few fighters that I can see handling a prime LW Whitaker (others including Duran and Napoles). Tough to pick but I would say that Williams edges Whitaker in a highly competitive fight.

Agreed, that ain't exactly a murderer's row there, it'd take Ike about 90 days to beat those 3 in his era. Pea is a great fighter but Ike brings wayyyy more to the table than these guys put together . Close decision and it will depend a lot on the judges, those who favor aggression give it to Ike.

That is accurate. Power is the great equalizer. Even if SweetPea doesn't get knocked out he could be knocked down by Williams right hand. I recall Roger Mayweather put Pea on the deck hard with a right down the pipe. Uncle was a bit too fragile to see it through.
Pea had great agility and balance. He was slippery as hell. Williams would have to time him or make Whitaker be the aggressor.
This is an interesting match. One guy wants to make you look amatuerish the other can separate you from you senses with one mistake.

A true 50:50 in my opinion.
Gun to my head, Ike Williams.
With zero certainly. So keep that firearm at a safe distance from my cranium.

Two days ago, I'd have gone with Ike. Today I'm going with Sweet Pea. As it happens, I've watched as much Ike footage as I could find (including a 15 rounder, which I was very surprised to see existed) and about 5 Sweet Pea fights. I think Pernell is too quick and too savvy for Ike. After all, Willis Joyce managed it 3/4 times.

Obviously if Ike lands... anyone's going sleep (yes I mean ANYONE)

Whitaker is quite literally the worst matchup for Ike in the history of the Lightweight division. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading through this thread.

Not crazy at all. Ike Williams has the ability to beat any Lightweight that ever lived and also quite a few Welterweights.

Doesn't mean he should be favored over all of them. Particularly not his stylistic bane. He's got a better shot of beating Hank and Duran than he does Whitaker.

Really? I'd have thought Ike has some stuff which would really trouble Pea. His nasty right hand and combinations seem tailor made for dealing with southpaws.

I do get what you're saying though. Ike's kryptonite was the guys who'd move away from him, not come forward.

I think Ike is a more complete fighter while Pea is the more complete boxer. I think Pea closely out points him.
