I'll eat humble pie if Kova can win more than 3 rounds in the rematch... had Ward winning every round after the 5th 4th was debatable. Ward has figured him out and I expect total domination in the rematch.
Ward may sneak in a couple of rounds, but he will not be able to hold off the onslaught from Kovalev. Keep in mind, Ward isnt the only one who is going to be making adjustments for the rematch. Kovalev is fully aware of why he faded in the second half of the fight, even though he done enough to win. He is not going to exhaust himself in camp, he is training with mind to keep enough fuel in the tank so his power carries over through for the 12 rounds if it need it be so. But I'd wager that Ward won't last that long. All I hope is that both men leave the ring healthy, that's all I'm going to say.
Ward was supposed to leave the first fight on a stretcher in an ambulance, if you listen to ESB forum goers.
Sometimes I really, really wonder how it is that people can watch the same darn fight and come up with such radically different conclusions.
Kova has learned that Ward isn't Floyd Mayweather so he will be confident going into the rematch. However, as others have said, if he too emotionally invested it may benefit Ward.
Kovalev thought he had won the fight. He didn't need to bring the fight to Ward, just keep on outboxing him. But he didn't know the judges were going to screw him. It will be a different fight.
Actually Kovalev made late adjustments himself, he won the 10th round and the 12th was very close. @escudo explains this very well, I commend everyone interested to read his breakdown here: http://imgur.com/gallery/8Mjxs
Scientists have figured out avalanches, earthquakes, tsunamis etc - still can't stop them. This myth that after the KD Ward took Kovalev to school needs to stop. The only thing Ward figured out was that he couldn't outbox Sergey in any conventional sense so the only way to compete was spoiling/anti-boxing.
Ward was outboxed in their first meeting hence him having to go into pro wrestler mode after round 4.
