Whoever Mayweather fights, people **** on him for fighting. I'm not a Floyd fan, but to call Floyd out on ducking is just bull**** now. Only in your fanboy dreams does a fight with Mosely make more sense. No disrespect for Mosely, but he was one fight away from obscurity a year ago when he beat on a near-finished Vargas. Just because he's fast, that's enough to justify being more of a threat to the P4P? Cotto's resume is no better than Hatton and frankly he's only being glorified because he beat up on Zab Judah, who even got schooled by Baldomir. Not only is it not any better as matchup, but Mayweather-Cotto is also a **** fight in terms of public intrerest and money. It's not as good for the sport bottom line. So as much as I don't like Floyd, give the P4P man a break. 2 years ago when the world wanted Mayweather-Hatton more than anything, he was a ***** for taking any other fight. Then he goes through Judah, the guy who beat Judah, and stepped up for De la Hoya. Now he's going back for the unfinished business and he's ducking again. I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something. Who else should he fight?
PBF-Hatton is a proper superfight. It is actually two prime fighters, fighting at a weight they both will be strong at. DLH-PBF was an old semi-retired boxer fighting outside his prime weight fighting prime but smaller man way outside his prime weight. There were a lot of "Yeah buts" after that fight, I dont see this happening as much in regards to PBF-Hatton because they're two guys at their best. Somebodys 0 must go.
Yeah...i feel that. Winner sets up big fight with Mosely/Cotto winner anyways. I mean everyone can Hate on Floyd for "ducking" Hatton, Mosely, Cotto, and Margarito...as the Haters would have said a month ago... But now he's fighting Hatton, potentially sets up winner of Cotto/Mosely in the Spring, and Margarito in his last two fights was nothing to write home about and is now out of the picture for one of Floyd's last fights. He wins Hatton, fights Mosely/Cotto winner everyone is going to go say "what about Paul Williams?" I'm sorry, there's no benefit to a Paul Williams fight unless he defends his belt for several years, or moves up in weigh and wins multiple titles at multiple weights. He commands respect, he's fighting the highest rated P4P fighter (by the ring magazine) near his weight...bottom line. He might not be my favorite fighter, but i respect him and it does bother me seeing him knocked all the time.
Thank you guys, that's all I'm trying to say, you know. Boxing fans and casual sports fans alike should be REALLY happy about this mega fight between two unbeaten fighters in their primes - with contrasting styles and personalities. And I sign on ESB...top article is about Mayweather taking the easy way out. That's my two cents.
The fact that he signed on the dotted line to fight another p4p fighter in his prime should be plenty enough for everyone. If he wins, he can't stop there though.
Mayweather-Hatton was the best fight that could happen now. Mosley is really getting old and I think fighting Hatton is better for legassy. Cotto would be a great adversary but in one year, or maybe if his fight agianst Mosley happens and he wins.
Cotto ain't no joke...i say he's the toughest test for PBF. But come on, CARLITO is the biggest Margarito nuthugger (one of the few still living) and just PO'ed his boy got beat. Beating AM don't mean nothing. You win one title from one guy in one weight division doesn't give u a credible shot against the consensus p4p #1 fighter in the world. PW doesn't deserve it yet, period. He's been a champ for 3 weeks, Floyd 11 years, he makes no money and unless PW becomes an ATG he adds nothing to Floyd's ledger other than beating a guy the same size of his sparring partners, period. Now if u gonna go off on someone else, listen up, it's economics 101...PW has sold 0 ppv's. 0. None. Never. He is a nobody in the PPV market. His best exposure before winning the title, yeah that was on a Mayweather undercard. Mayweather-Hatton, Mayweather-Mosely, Mayweather-Cotto, Mayweather-ODLH 2 all may be bigger fights than u can say indefinatly that PW will ever make. In reality, PW won't be at 147 long, and nobody knows how he'll fare down the stretch when he's fighting guys his size. Hatton is a superfight. Floyd gets worldwide recognition, when a PW fight gives him marginal respect (very little if Floyd wins convincingly)...and is in no way an attraction of the magnitude of Ricky Hatton. Ricky Hatton is a big fight.
By saying "another" I meant quite obviously that he himself was a p4p fighter and was fighting a fellow p4p fighter in his prime. But to answer your silly little question, Corrales was ranked p4p by Ring when PBF beat him. http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_2000 Moving on....
You'll wait on this message bored being obnoxious all night as usual. Next you'll be screaming Margarito Margarito like anybody is listening anymore. Like it or not, Floyd is #1, you'll always find an excuse to knock him, you are a hater. You'll always say so-and-so will beat him. And when they get knocked off, you say the guy that beat him can beat Floyd. Then you knock his resume, his this, his that. Thing is, you're just ignorant. 5 weight classes. That's Margarito and Paul Williams winning a title at 175, being his first title was at 147, and Cotto winning a world title at 168. He deserves respect. Period. You don't show it. Every fighter deserves respect. Tear him down all you want, it's just ignorance. You don't like his style, or his this, or his that, and you talk ignorant ****. Not even a floyd fan, just a carlito hater. Just go choke on a burrito and die
its the total opposite whoever floyd fights, he gets massive praise, even if its not that impressive. Gatti, Baldomir, Judah, and ODLH Floyd gets MASSIVE CREDIT for dominating 2 below average fighters, winning a close but comfortable decision against an average fighter, and barely sqeaking out a decision against a WAY past prime elite fighter... Hatton is a breath of fresh air in a resume thats been stagnating since december 2002 (almost 5 years)
