Calzaghe is quite an enigma! Now at 35 he wants to fight the top guys. Maybe its partly due to getting fleeced by his ex.
Because Bute isn't ready to face Calzaghe yet. By the time he would have a decent crack, say, early 2009 at the earliest, Calzaghe would be long retired. Bute would even then not be a big enough name for Calzaghe to bother with, so risk/reward would just not make sense.
Bute's a good young, up and coming guy but isn't ready for the likes of Calzaghe just yet. The fight is a non starter.
You bring up a good point, and if it comes down to Kelly personally, his pride wouldn't let him say no to it unless there was a MW unification fight already in place. I think Pavlik's first choice would be a fight with Abraham in the winter, but if that doesn't come to fruition, I could see him taking on Joe at 168. The schedules would fit for both of them.
Pavlik was MW when Joe first called him out after P/T 1. So he should be willing to come down to 160. :yep
That would be a Calzaghe shut out followed by a TKO, :yep. But 167.3? Nah 167.5 is a much better number.
