I don't understand your logic on this. 1. Bute is a title holder in HIS OWN DIVISION. 2. The general concesus among Calzaghe fans is that Pavlik isn't ready for Joe either. After all Pavlik is only 25 himself and just won his first title 2 fights ago, at MW. To me that seems hypocritical.
Really? I thought it was because of the confidence he gained from demolishing Lacy. Prior to that fight he never fully believed in himself.
Pavlik is an AMERICAN name fighter. Bute is a relatively anonymous European. Calzaghe - Pavlik is a box office smash. Calzaghe - Bute..........................
OK, let me try to explain myself. From my point of view, I don't want to see Joe fight Bute because there are bigger and better options out there. From Bute's point of view, he has other agendas like Joppy and Andrade. He's also young enough to start some great matchups with Miranda, Froch, Inkin, and a whole group of guys of a similar age. Pavlik has established himself by becomming the biggest star at Middleweight - has won two fights against the man who beat the man. He is pretty famous now because he's effectively the undisputed MW champion. He's there on a pedestal to be shot down - Bute is a belt holder who beat Berrio (who won the title by beating Stieglitz in a box off for the vacated belt).
So that's basically it: You would like to see you're seasoned Vet "Shoot Down" the young UP and COMING Middleweight star (ready or not) because he's an American name?? Don't want to sound like you're not cool by me, because you are:deal . Good poster.........But that's all still hypocritical. I would not support Pavlik (my favorite), to shoot down ANY 154 pounders, no matter where they are from.
Well, dreaming is not illegal. Calzaghe can dream at getting a shot at Pavlik, why not? It would look good on paper, although Pavlik's belts would not be on the line. It would make money and enhance his status in the USA. Pavlik, of course, should tell Calzaghe to **** off! No reason at all for Pavlik to risk it against Calzaghe when he has still a lot to do at MW.
Well I didn't say I'd like to see Calzaghe-Pavlik for the record, I just stated that it would be too soon for Pavlik to have any kind of impact on a fight vs JC.
Problem is Pavlik might be "brave" enough to say YES to Calzaghe! Hope his advisors don't mess it up for him.
:good OK I follow you now. At first it sounded like you're saying too soon for Bute to face Joe, but Pavlik is fine. Pav's got business to look after at 160. Been hard road for him to get to the throne, now he can set back for a couple and let them come to him.
I think Kelly's best chance would be if it was actually fought at 168. I don't mean weigh in a day and a half early. Both enter the ring at the 168 pound limit. Any Idea what Cal actually weighs at fight time?
Not much Pavlik says that doesn't end up in the local paper and I don't end up reading. I saw nothing. But, who knows.
And when Calzaghe beats Hopkins they're going to say Hopkins was too old it didn't matter. And if Calzaghe wins 12 rounds on Pavlik they're going to say Pavlik was "basic"....I don't think theres any way that Calzaghe could ever get the credit he deserves unless he goes up to like 200lbs and fights wladamir or something lmao...........
