I truly think that the inverse psychology and inverse descrimination is highly misleading in this case cause it all has to do with how the descriminator hits the descriminated. When Bernard says he won't lose to a caucasian person, he's talking about the pride he has in his african-american roots and the physical/pugilistic aspects associated with that ethnicity. If Calzaghe would say that concerning being beaten by a coloured person, it would probably have a social impact in the sphere of racism. It has to do with boxing and fighters, not just with persons - obviously there is descrimination towards caucasians in Africa and it is equally wrong to descrimination towards other races in the Northern Hemisphere... Bernard is just saying that to have Joey C gun-shy but it can hardly happen, folks... If one could not make out skin colours due to some visual disturbance, I would say Joey is the black athlete, folks - he's flashy, he's unpredictable, he's a beautiful boxing specimen and of course, he's cool.

Calzaghe has a big mouth. He really thinks his that good. His fared well by being in a division that for so long was just rank mediocre.Fortunately for him his had a coming of age of late with his wins over an overrated Jeff and his win over Kessler.Solid wins yes.The type of wins to propel him to ATG status a resounding NO.Joes longevity as a champ is unparalled he knows this and this is mainly his bargaining chip. His a good fighter but not great.

Please lets this **** die. This topic was discussed ad nauseam over 3 days ago. Some of you guys on this board are some whiny bitches... This is boxing, not politics, dont expect fighters to be "PC" when trying to hype a fight

I would make no sense for Calzaghe to say "I'll never lose to a black guy". He's undefeated. His goal is not to lose to anyone, regardless of color. Hopkins on the other hand, has been defeated by a black fighter. So now his goal has shifted to not losing to anyone who is white(there really aren't any Spanish or Asian fighters in his weight class).:good

It probably is just hyping the fight, but at the same time I wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt, and I wouldnt really care either.

I went to middle/high school hearing the same type of comments all the time. Typical thug like comments.

It IS possible to hype up a fight without offending an entire race in the process.

If Hopkins can't manage that then he must be ******ed. I thought he was supposed to be some kind of great talker? Surely he could find another way to promote the fight if he's so smart & witty?

Take it with a pinch of salt, it was a stupid thing to say but I doubt it was said with real conviction, its just one of many dodgy things that can get said in order to hype a potential fight.

The way fighters talk about each other AFTER a fight is the most important thing IMO
