I'll say it again...Ward is the future at super middleweight.

It's hard to make a decision when they put the guy with the most potential against the most difficult opponent in the division, but I think that Ward has the skills and overall ability to be Calzaghe's replacement.

Unlike Dirrell who relies on athleticism alone, runs, and lacks skill, which most people are tricked into believing he has because of his incredibly fast handspeed, Ward can box.

Ward also has handspeed and while he didn't land anything significant against Miranda, I think he can punch too.

The only problem is Kessler who is a solid fighter in his own right, and it is very difficult to pick a winner in this situation because Kessler has good skills himself, but I think Ward can beat him by a narrow decision that will surprise everyone.

I have been saying it for a minute. Ward shocks the boxing community by beating Kessler on points unanimously...straight up

He might. Kessler is HUGE jump in class. I wish that Ward would have fought some more contendors before making this kind of jump, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Still though, he has the tools to win a decision.

This is my latest conspiracy theory ... I know for a fact that the tournament was set up especially for Andre Ward ... he's supposed to be the champion of this tournament despite the odds ... he's the most popular and biggest draw ... i'm sure that he'll be there when it comes time to announce the winner ... I wouldn't be surprised if he goes undefeated during the tournament ... he's a ****ing Amateur Champion ... not a Amateur champion but the Amateur champion out of one of the most respected schools of boxing ... US ... there's not Russians or Cubans here ... its straight up about Ward ...

Dirrell will probably his stiffest challenge but i'm not sure if Dirrell would stay in the tournament. Should he win tomorrow ... I can see Dirrell going ... either the tournament or the division altogether. The world is not ready for Dirrell vs Ward yet ... and I think that Dirrell has to establish himself as a solid player ... or form some kind of role to get him some fan fare going on.

I see Bute, Kessler, and MAYBE Froch as being his toughest competition.

I think he has the tools to beat them all though.

People on Dirrell's nuts are going to find out that he was too green when he gets knocked out by Froch.

Dude makes too many mistakes, and I just read that he said he would beat BHop, and while BHop is my favorite fighter, I think Calzaghe beat him, and Dirrell was talkin about whoopin Calzaghe.

BHop had all the tricks in the world, and BHop could have won the fight if he had more stamina, but his age caught up to him in that fight or he underestimated him, and honestly Calzaghe is a great fighter.

Based on that performance and his fight against Kessler, I saw how Calzaghe is a great boxer.

Anyway....this is just an off tangent I'm on because I saw that thread where Dirrell would beat Calzaghe's ass.

Well Froch definitely ain't Calzaghe, and Froch is gonna get in his ass, so I'm not sure what he's gonna say after that.

Ward is fast, very skilled, and very smart. He is still getting better too. This tourney, win or lose, will tell us all we need to know. And even if he does not come out as the winner, he'll be a handfull for anyone at 168.

Ward was fighting at LHW and could barely make 178 lbs which is the standard in amateur ... he was barely 170 ... so he was fighting bigger guys ... he's seen every style imagineable ... and he's been in every situation imagineable ... hostile crowds ... tough fights that he had to dig deep ... and the mutha ****a has some skill.
Should be a middleweight or even light middleweight but is fighting comfortabley at super middleweight.

I can tell you guys this ... these young guys are going to be something to be recogned with ...

This has got to be one of your worst posts, Fitz.

Ward isn't half the draw that Abraham, Kessler or even Froch is. What's Ward's biggest audience?

I seriously think Dirrell is going to pull out of the tourney ... I don't know why but something is telling me this ... I'm wondering if he's really a super middleweight ... and I can tell you this ... the guy doesn't look like much when you see him but he's pretty damn tall and long 6'2 or 6'3 atleast ... I read somewhere that he's been in the ring training with some good fighters ... working out with world champions ... so i'm sure he's ready.

I think Saturday is going to tell what Dirrell is going to do ... if he stuggles too much with Froch ... but wins ... don't look for him to stay around ... I think he might just move up to light heavy - challenge the winner of Diaconu vs Pascal ...

There has to be a level playing field ... you have

I'm not talking about good amateur careers ... dickhead ... i'm talking about this ****in guy not losing for the past 11 yrs ... damnit! ... i'm talking this ****'n guy selling out an NBA arena (19k +) for a minor title fight ... i'm talking about this guy having homecourt advantage throughout the whole ****ing first leg of the tournament ... and should he go undefeated that **** will continue. Most of the Olympic champions of recent memory have went on to win their first title shots ... and i'm not talking about bronze medalist ... i'm talking about gold. (from the US)

And you ****ing idiot ... the skill and class difference is ****in evident amongst all nations ... and to that, US is one nation that is held in the highest regards as far as amateur boxing.
