Both containers appear to be the same substance and were ingested similarly by both fighters. They also resemble bottles of pure compressed oxygen like these that when ingested, could considerably improve an athlete’s stamina & cardio. What makes this interesting is that compressed oxygen is a substance banned from nearly every endurance sport, including MMA; in every state, including Texas. Check out what we found on the Texas state athletic comission’s website that outlines the rules of what supplies are allowed to accompany a fighter to the ring/cage:
    (i) A second shall be responsible for a contestant’s corner supplies.
    (1) Approved supplies are ice, which must be in an ice bag or Department approved container, water, cotton swabs, gauze pads, clean towels, Adrenalin 1:10,000, Avitene, Thromblin, petroleum jelly or other surgical lubricant, medical diachylon tape, Enswel, and electrolytes. Electrolytes must be brought to the ring in the manufacturer’s sealed container. Electrolytes must be opened for the first time in the presence of a representative of the Department. All coagulants shall be in a container with the proper manufacturer’s label and not contaminated by any foreign substance.
    (2) All containers shall be properly labeled with the manufacturer’s label and not contaminated by any foreign substance.
    (3) The use of an unapproved substance may result in disciplinary action.
    (4) Only water and electrolytes shall be permitted for hydration of a contestant between rounds. Honey, glucose, or sugar, or any other substance may not be mixed with the water.

yea I saw that on bloody elbow. Good job, Texas. You can't seem to do ANYTHING with combat sports without ****ing it right up.

At least Laurence Cole doesn't ref MMA fights, i'm sure someone would have wound up killed if he had.

King Mo and KJ need to be tried and banned if necessary. They should face a suspension and fine. This **** ain't on. Any athletes bending or breaking the rules should have the book thrown at them and an example must be made of them.

Gay-J & (HO)MO should be investigated. I've never even seen an oxygen bottle until they showed the pics of them using it the day after. Just add this to all the other unprofessional bull**** Noons exhibited this past weekend.

I don't get it. It's oxygen... Same **** NFL players breathe on the sidelines. It's not unhealthy, and if it helps fighters recoup to make the next round more entertaining, why not?

Just make sure everyone has the option of taking advantage of it.

Think about that for a second.. Really, literally regulating the air the fighters breathe? I understand it certainly gives a fighter an advantage over an opponent who isn't using it, but I think we should rethink this one and maybe allow fighters to take advantage of oxygen inbetween rounds. After all, breathing oxygen never hurt anybody.

I noticed Mo doing that before his fight and I couldn't tell what it was. I jokingly thought it looked he was sucking on a can of cheese whiz.

I agree if it is just air then shame on the other guys trainers for NOT providing thier fighters with it. I can't see how nobody ask what they where doing while they were using it. Obviously the ringside officials who watch the cornermen work knew what it was and let them.

Pure oxygen can be hazardous, and it being compressed certainly doesn't make it safer. I don't know if it was pure oxygen or not.

I agree a reasonable amount of oxygen isn't dangerous, but as you said, only if both guys can have it.

Right now, the rules are you can't, so if one guy gets an advantage from it, it's not like other sports, things like broken limbs and brain damage are on the line.

If it gives you more energy artificially then it is obviously questionable as it is providing you with more energy to beat on someone and potentially hurt them. Combat is the one sport where an illegal edge must never be given.

you can slap an oxygen sticker on just about anything and say it's oxygen. The ringside doctors should be crucified if they just nod their heads and go "oh okay lol" and let it be.

You don't know if it really was oxygen they were breathing. Same reason you're not supposed to crush up asthma pills and put them in the bottle you mixed. it gives you an edge over your opponent in your cardio and endurance.

Obviously, it didn't help Mo, but that's beside the point. Steroids haven't helped plenty of fighters who still got their asses whooped and popped positive afterwards but they're still not allowed.

Maybe it did help Mo but we can't tell. Mo got sloppy and tired versus Mousasi. I think he looked a bit fresher in this fight, until he got caught.
