That would be serious stuff... Good that his ass was handled...

But do you remember how Cottos face looked after their fight and even before he absorbed the majority of the punishment he took?

IF the investigation comes to the conclusion that Margo's a cheater.. Former wins should also beeing questioned...

Officials found what one doctor described as plaster of Paris hidden in the wrapped hands of Antonio Margarito (above left at the weigh-in Friday) shortly before the welterweight champion's title defense against Shane Mosley (above right) on Saturday at the Staples Center, leading to accusations that Margarito may have been trying to cheat.

According to Judd Burstein, the attorney for Mosley, Margarito had wet pads in the wrapping. Mosley's doctor, Robert Olvera, likened the material to the type of plaster used to make casts.

"It gets hard and mobile," said Olvera, who said he scratched the pad and "flakes of plaster of Paris" came off.

Burstein said he seized the pad removed from the wrapping and another pad found in Margarito's dressing room. Both were placed in a sealed box that was given to Dean Lohuis of the California Boxing Commission for further study.

Nazzim Richardson, the trainer for Mosley, was the first to notice something unusual about Margarito's wrap job and asked officials to take the tape off. That's when the foreign substance was discovered, seized and placed in a box for investigation after the bout.

Boxing regulators have found illegal substance inside the gloves of Antonio Margarito less the 30 minutes before the fight at Staples Center in California.

Yahoo news: ‘A controversy erupted about half an hour prior to Antonio Margarito’s defense of his WBA welterweight title against Shane Mosley on Saturday, before 20,820 at the Staples Center.

Dean Lohuis, the interim co-executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, said an illegal substance was found in Margarito’s hand wraps. A boxing hand was wrapped with tapes and gauze to protect them before he puts on the gloves.

That's the thing. Even if this was the one and only time that this was done, people will always question his victories. Stupid, stupid ****er.
If he is found guilty of this I fear the worst for him.

    Without any logic?

The fact that he grinds opponents down makes it even worse, can you imagine what it would feel like getting hit with those punches when his wraps are coated in plastic in the championship rounds?

If it didn't serve any purpose then why did they bother to cheat in the 1st place?

No wonder Cotto got stopped late in the fight if he cheated then as well, it would've felt like a ****ing wall was hitting him.

as a margo fan i was disgusted when they anounced this before the fight started. margo's credibility is now deffo hurt. i did think that shane was going to get what cotto got and in a sence maybe he was going to untill they found the loaded gloves. shane is a marvel for putting on the fight he did at his age and i loved the fight even though i was wrong about the outcome.

Wasn't Shane on steroids when he "beat" Oscar? :huh

I don't hear anyone on here pretending to be outraged about that, or calling for him to be banned from the sport forever.

    Agreed.

I hope the authorities don't treat this as just another thing.
