i feel you, you had no way of knowing the **** he was doing, all you saw was what was going on in the ring, a tough mexican warrior, who hits hard and doesn't stop punching like real talk, on my life if i ever found out Judah, Cotto, Donaire, Mosley, Berto, Dawson, Haye, JMM, Pacman, Bute, Juanma, Kessler, Torres, Diaz, Martinez, Hopkins, Ortiz, Vasquez, Marquez etc etc. etc.... had done some foul **** like that, i'd cut all ties i have towards these guys as a fan, not only is that major ***** move on the fighters part but, it can really hurt or maybe even severly damage another fighter who's just trying to make a living and give the sport and fans what they want
i've been thinking about lujan's ears when he fought margo... do you think that was due to the so called 'illegal' handwraps?:think this plaster thing is a serious issue for the boxing community
"Officials found what one doctor described as plaster of Paris hidden in the wrapped hands of Antonio Margarito shortly before the welterweight champion's title defense against Shane Mosley on Saturday at the Staples Center, leading to accusations that Margarito may have been trying to cheat. According to Judd Burstein, the attorney for Mosley, Margarito had wet pads in the wrapping. Mosley's doctor, Robert Olvera, likened the material to the type of plaster used to make casts."It gets hard and mobile," said Olvera, who said he scratched the pad and "flakes of plaster of Paris" came off. Burstein said he seized the pad removed from the wrapping and another pad found in Margarito's dressing room. Both were placed in a sealed box that was given to Dean Lohuis of the California Boxing Commission for further study. Burstein said representatives of both boxers "discussed this exact issue" at Friday's rules meeting "and they went ahead and violated it." After the suspicious pads were removed from Margarito's dressing room, the boxer's hands were rewrapped and the fight went off on time. Because the violation was caught before Margarito stepped into the ring, Margarito's camp will likely be subject to little more than a disciplinary action if the substance is found to be illegal. Nazzim Richardson, the trainer for Mosley, was the first to notice something unusual about Margarito's wrap job and asked officials to take the tape off. That's when the foreign substance was discovered, seized and placed in a box for investigation after the bout. "That's a serious offense," an official with Golden Boy, Mosley's promoter, said. "That's cheating." Mosley was informed of the discovery before the fight, Burstein said. According to the lawyer, Mosley said he took that as evidence that Margarito "was scared" going into the bout. Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, Margarito's promoter, shrugged and said he was told only that "additional gauze" had been taken off his fighter's hand wraps. -- Kevin Baxter and Lance Pugmire
he was a real mess during that time.. can't believe that his face is swollen as if he was being hit by a brick... i felt sorry for the guy
just about to say that...gives you extra confidence since you know you have something in your sleeve...
Maybe he used the illegal wraps afew times and didnt get caught out. He sure as hell wont ever be able to use them again after this. He has been busted. :hi: I want to see him in the ring with cotto again.
Is it 100% conifrmed that the substance was a plaster paris type of substance? If it's true then it is an absolute disgrace and casts serious dispersions on Margo as a fighter and a person. I was never really a fan of Margo and feel that he should receive a very severe reprimand if it proves to be true, however perhaps we should wait until an official announcement has been made by the commission before calling for his head. It seems ironic that a guy who was loved for his ordinary, down to earth persona would be cheating in such a serious manner.
All the guys who lost to margarito in recent fights will be asking the same questions. Did I lose to a guy who had bricks in his gloves? :huh
THIS IS INCREDIBLE I'm in shock. If this is true then what sweet justice that a 37 year old Mosley exposed Margarito and beat the plaster out of him. Still, it might not be true, and we should wait for the boxing comission to speak before passing judgement
The matter of fact is we'll never know if he actually has used them before. I don't there is any way to prove this, the only way is to make margo's camp talk and I doubt they will say anything. But there's still a HIGH possibility he did it vs Cotto, if he did against a 37 year old past his prime fighter, what makes you think he wouldn't do it against a prime elite fighter?
Now it makes more sense why Josh Clotteu damaged his hands against Margo..... Most of his punches in the early rounds were against Margos gloves.... That's what could have damaged Clotteys hands in their fight. Also they should investigate whether Margo put plaster in his chin against Cotto
