I think the Icelander is going to break some hearts here. He's seven years younger and three inches taller (at the same 250ish lbs) - while the Finn racked up a perfect 6-0 record with 6 kayos before he fought Helenius, but as a can crusher, and was since taken six full rounds by Iranian-Austrian mixed-martial-artist Arash Khojasteh.

Round 1

Kristinsson is jabbing down at Mielonen, both circling. Mielonen crossing his arms to block. Right hand on the body attempted by Mielonen, stuffed as Kristinsson drops his gloves to catch. Kristinsson is easing off the Mielonen up-jab by quickening his lateral step. A series of lunging shots by Mielonen, all dodged as Kristinsson skates by the ropes. Kristinsson feeding Mielonen long jabs continuously, mostly in doubles.

IB funfact: The reason Kristinsson has zero fights at home in Iceland is that they've never legalized pro boxing after outlawing it in the 1950s.

He is the country's current only male professional boxer.

 

Round 2

Kristinsson is jabbing and cutting semicircles around Mielonen, frequently changing direction and taking advantage of the shorter & stockier man's slowness to adapt by scoring a few extra jabs. Mielonen tries charging him into the ropes but misses all his power shots and is grabbed and repelled.

Round 3

Kristinsson is doubling up on the long jab, banging Mielonen on the mush with it. Mielonen tries swiping with underhanded body scythes with both hands, but can't reach. Kristinsson gets a overeager and tries a right hand behind his jab, and getgs his head snapped back by an inclined Mielonen jab. Kristinsson swelling the bulb & bridge of Mielonen's nose with his jab from the outside, causing him to sniffle and mouth-breathe.

Round 4

Kristinsson is carrying his left arm low to bait Mielonen, but still ends up having to lead. Mielonen just standing pat, waiting, and still getting caught by the jab when Kristinsson throws it. A few straight combos now by Kristinsson, headhunting as Mielonen sweeps at the midsection with hooks and grazes before Kristinsson flits outside again. Wide hook attempted up top by Mielonen as they step into a clinch, his inner bicep clanging off the side of Kristinsson's head, missing knuckle pad contact by almost the full length of his own arm. Double jabs galore landing for Kristinsson.

This is only Mielonen's second time (and Kristinsson's third) seeing a 5th round.

Neither has ever seen a 7th, if we get there.

 

I'm only a year younger but would sign up to fight him in a heartbeat and not be too worried.

 

50-45 Kristinsson, and it looks as though a conversation is transpiring in Mielonen's corner with the ref involved - about to retire?
