IMO this might be a step to far for Canelo.

Canelo would land flush on Makabu to little effect, but when Makabu lands on Canelo he'll rock him to his core even when he does block the punches.

Only way I see Canelo winning is by fighting a perfect defensive fight and winning on points.

But I don't rule out the possibility of Canelo teeing off on Makabu and possibly do enough damage to get a TKO or a decision like other smaller fighters have done in the past against bigger opponents.

Dempsey, Pacquiao, Jones Jr come to mind.

Canelo haters pre-Golovkin: Canelo weighs 185-190 lbs fight night

Canelo haters today: Canelo will use a lot of PEDs to bulk up to 190.

    Idiots lol

Very ballsy move but I'm really pulling for my boy Makabu.

Makabu is very reckless and gets into dangerous exchanges. Not sure whether thats the style to beat Canelo

I smell bad things. How did they arrange this fight so quickly? I'd rather watch WWE than Canelo fights.

Agreed. He is not great defensively which spells bad news against a counterpuncher like Canelo. It's not a bad fight but let's be honest. Makabu is not Briedis who is the real champ at CW and would destroy Canelo.

I'm a big fan of Makabu's, but Canelo and his team see the same thing that I do. Canelo's explosive looping hooks around the guard are going to annihilate Junior. It wouldn't shock me to see Canelo spark him in a round or two.

    Cherrypick. Clenboy will destroy him.

There is a reason why Makabu started his career at 175 and weighed in at 190-195 for a lot of fights at CW.

He's small for a CW. And he's old. And he's kind of slow with his reflexes.

Nevertheless he's a much bigger boy than Plant was. Thick guy. And he's a tricky southpaw.

Clenbuterol hasn't faced a lot of southpaws over the last few years. The last one gave him a really good fight until he got his face smashed (Saunders). And he definitely struggled with some Leftys in the past (Trout, Lara). So who knows ... i take it. This is a much better fight than Dirrell.

And more important i'm happy that Makabu might get a really nice payday here. He deserves it. Really entertaining fighter and a nice guy.

PEDs to bulk up and then rehydrate to past even the bridger limit. :sisi1 Not that hard to comprehend.

So they will fight in May, which means it will be 17 months of inactivity for Makabu.

Yes there is a reason he started his career at 175lbs, because he hadn't stopped growing, he was 20 at the time
    Also Makabu isn't old

Doesnt make sense. There was obviously something shady going in the background. Canelo even said 174 was the highest he would go. Now out of nowhere hes moving up to cruiser? Either the athletic commision is letting him roid up as much as he wants, or mukuba has agreed to fight at a catchweight, or even take a dive.

Yep, unless he squeezes in a tune-up ...but even if so it'll be nobody with a pulse, because Makabu isn't finding another payday like Canelo and won't be wanting to screw this up.

If he squeezes in a tune-up then it'll be "he had too short of a camp" like Kovalev.

If he fights in December or January? No it wouldn't.
