I don't think Bellew's that good. I picked him to win, but that's only because I never thought Makabu was that epic. Could be outboxed, and was getting outboxed before Mchunu gassed.

That being said, I did not expect Bellew knocking him cold like this.

For such a small Island, UK fighters picking up world titles for fun right now.

 

No just too confident in his chin and defense. He thought he could ride out the onslaught but got his lights turned out!!

Bellew shows his power is genuine and he is a threat at world level. He also displayed his vulnerability as Makabu landed cleanly. However Bellew has ALWAYS had great recovery as his bouts with McKenzie have shown.
Makabu was naive, he tried to outpower Bellew when he was hurt and Bellew is a good finisher. So he left himself open.

As for the future, surely an easy defence for Bellew against someone like Ramirez or McKenzie, or perhaps a bout against Shumenov/USS Cunningham

Or the winner of Kucher VS Enzo...

Just as I expected. Makabu, who you said will decapitate Bellew is straight under the bus.

 

Yeah Bellew caught him cold... Despite winning Bellew didn't even really look that great himself. Looked slow, ploddy and easy to hit. There's still 10+ guys at CW easily capable of beating him. His reign is going to be a short one.
