you have a point in that many fighters fight for paycheques. the difference with robinson is that by this point in robinsons career he'd fought nearly a dozen HOFs, often multiple times, and over numerous weight classes. he fought the best at lightweight, welterweight and middleweight. yes, he fought them for money but he still fought them, and beat them conclusively

Your statements are idiotic. All people are materialistic. It also would seem to be true as he isn't paying the sanctioning fees for the belts.

All boxers are arrogant. How else could you step in the ring and pound guys out unless deep down you had a belief that you could whip them all?

Then you are back on that ducking BS? What PRIZE fighter doesn't prioritize money? Name one you fool? Come out of the closet you hater.

Please. Do you really think that a modern era fighter could last for as many fights as those guys did? Why? Because BOXING as a whole is much more evolved. Those guys are in the HOF because people loved them and boxing not because they were "better" than the guys boxing now.

You make some good points, and your right in what you say about Ray Robinson but to try and say Floyd hasnt fought great fighters is crazy, trust me ... when Floyds done probally about 10 guys from his 40 odd fights will be in the HOF, so when you consider Robinson had 200 odd fights to Mayweathers 40, the ratio of HOF'ers on their record is pretty differing

    Marquez
    Hatton
    Castillo
    Corralles
    Gatti
    Dela Hoya
    Mosley

All of these guys in my opinion are certain HOF'ers, and if he goes on to fight Pacquiou next then thats 8 hall of famers in 42 fights

at the end of the day, do you really think it's about the money comment? it's about mayweather's constant bragging about being the best, fighting the best and leaving fans wanting him to prove it THEN having the nerve to claim he's only fighting for money OUR money that we pay to watch him fight. he's taking our money, spitting in our faces with his selective competition and bragging and telling us nothing matters to him, boxing or the fans, except for mony. sugar ray robinson, not even sugar ray leonard, ever treated the fans or the sport with such disrespect. please don't say it's all an act either cause he's doing a great job acting like a **** then and he should get a ****ing oscar

*Fights for the checks but quickly becomes defensive when people compare or rank other fighters above him.

i do think you have a point there. sammy angott, good but not great. but robinson's desire to fight and beat the best is unquestionable, despite being a greedy *******. mayweather's desire is certain in question

good list and good point but only hatton, castillo, castillo and gatti don't have question marks beside them. pac i doubt he'll fight but mosley can be included for sure

marquez is not in the equation, DLH was well past prime but still a good victory

Is this going to be a regular thing taking a Floyd Mayweather quote and nitpicking. Taking Floyd seriously is like believing Oscar De La Hoya everytime he said "Im in the best shape of my life", or believing Amir Khan when he said maidana ducked him. Its all bravado and pointless rhetoric to get people to buy the fight. Honestly I think the only people that know Floyd are the people that are around him everyday. If your trying to understand him, by listening to all the b.s. he spews during 24/7 your waisting your time.

I make that statement objectively with no malice toward the fighters of today or yesterday. All sports evolve.

FMJ is a reflection of society and the horror stories of boxing/boxing promotion. In SRR day being a championship level boxer meant something. There was a celebrity about it. Now? Great boxers like Holyfield and Tyson are laughed at for being "broke". Who cares who they beat? You think a boxer would get away with that Ben Rothlesburger crap? Hell no.

Mayweather always fought the best and I don't say that because he had some burning desire to fight the best. He fought the best because that is where the paycheck was. Money and challenge go hand in hand. People just don't pay to see you beat up tomatoe cans.
