I'm a big Pacquiao fan and his win was great but that wasn't the same Cotto from 2007

No, that looked like the Cotto of old to me. His speed was very good tonight but Pac has blinding speed.

I picked Pac to win by mid round KO and after round one I was thinking that was stupid.

That was the best version of Cotto I've seen since Mosley.

nut shots had little to do with it, Judah always folds his tent after about round 6.

i'd like to see myself as impartial. i love both pac and cotto.

with that said, i remember the mosley fight and the cotto from last night just couldn't throw combinations with the explosiveness and fluidity of cotto from 2007. margarito ruined cotto.

I think that the Margarito fight effected Cotto somewhere around the 7th round. In round 7 or so against Mosley, Cotto got hurt but was able to then use his underrated boxing skills and counter Mosley for the rest of the fight. The Margarito fight turned somewhere around the 7th or so. Cotto couldn't outbox Margarito the way he did Mosley and he ended up getting battered.

Last night the 7th round comes and he didn't have the confidence that he had against Mosley, which was the confidence to outbox and counter for the last half of the fight. Last night Cotto looked just like he did against Margarito. He looked broken.

The other part that really effected him was that he had a corner that was in full panic mode by the second round. They didn't give him any decent instructions, and instead were simply pleading with him to "hang in there".

    You are absolutely right!!

The 2007 version would have gotten knocked out much earlier.

Hmm, maybe it was Pac's speed and ackwardness that had to do with that. It is a much different kind of speed compared to Mosley.

I was wrong with my pick of Cotto winning this fight and so much more props for Pac. Cotto will be back. Sorry, but this sounds like an excuse thread like all Pac fans said were going to pop up. Let it go.

If it was a closer fight then you could make an argument. But Cotto got destroyed, even if Cotto was better in 2007 all that tells me is that the fight would have been closer, but still won by Pacman.

Cotto still took a lot of punches in 2007, Cotto still lacked defense in 2007. Cotto still lacked stamina in 2007. Same reason over and over why it was said he couldn't defeat PBF was exploited by Pacman.

Its not a revelation, it was the inevitable when he stepped up to fight better and better fighters.

He was not the Cotto of 2007 he was the Cotto of 2009 which if anything would be a little better because of his experience and "perfect" training camp.

Nonsense. Cotto was at the top of his game last night. Pac is just too great.

    i disagree widdow.

it just wasn't last night's fight though. i remember watching the first round of the clottey fight before cotto got that disgusting cut and just thinking how he didn't look the same.

all credit to pacquiao because he still went up to welterweight and he still beat miguel cotto. but that wasn't the miguel cotto i remembered back in 2007.

We need PAC vs. JMM 3 in Manila at 140

Floyd wont fight him, Mannys already got the legacy. He needs to finish his business with Juan.

At this point in time, that fight woud be a waste of time. Pac is levels higher now when he last met Marquez. I feel that he will blow him out within four.
