I think this depends on the organization they fight, and most probably depends on the ref.
In this case the fight was under WBA rules, and the ref should have give the final instruction about the low blows.

But also based on WBA rules, that was a clear lowblow. As they are saying anything below the belly button is low.

It was a legit shot, people saying it was low are acting like it was like a Golata low blow he inflicted on Bowe.

You may say many things i posted this video with a perfect angle where it's clear the shot is low.
GO on:

Tell me how it's not low.
Go read the WBA rules, which is all that matters. It was not borderline or close to it, it WAS VERY LOW simple as that.

As far as the blind "insult", you are keep telling me how this ain't a low blow, and wants me to believe you that you are not low.

Again, how is that now low ???
Where is the body shot exactly? This is clear trunk shot. Zero contact with Usyk skin. Usyk belly button is exactly on the shorts. It was seen in every single round and right after the punch.
But again i'm just stating facts with video record, here is it my friend, do you see it now???

You just want to ignore it. His shorts was also not high. Daniel Dubois one was.
Did you see any low shot from Usyk in the entire match ?
No, cause he is clean athlete.

Dubois landed at least 4-5 shots clearly below the waistline.

And btw just because you are touching the line a bit, doesn't mean it's not low. Even if part of the glove is below, it's low, based on WBA rules, which is all that matters here.
You can have all the opinion on the world, but there is strict rules, and based on the rules set for the match, clear as day > lowblow.

Just wanna get on the board here : if the lawyers are arguing about it, ultimately, it's a low blow. That said, this is boxing. Ward got away with worse vs Kovalev in the second fight and Cotto vs Judah and Casamayor in every single fight. Imo, it wasn't egregious, but it got called and it was a legit call. It's part of the RNG of boxing.

If the ref calls it the other way? Usyk gets up and beats the **** out of Dubois; the result is the same.

Absolutely.

So for the sake of argument/fun, let's just assume it's a genuine 50/50 for a moment - as in it's unclear whether it should or shouldn't be permitted...

Where would you stand, in general, on who should get the benefit of the doubt in this kind of position?

- Do we give the hurt fighter the benefit of the doubt as being TKO'd by an illegal blow would be adding insult to injury?
- Do we operate on the standard that if it's not clear that a rule has been broken, you assume it hasn't?

And beyond that...
Should a champion get any extra consideration on who gets the benefit of the doubt?
Should a fighter that's absolutely dominating the fight get any extra consideration on benefit of the doubt?

If absolutely all else is equal... Should giving the crowd a longer fight and both fighters a chance of winning mean you call a foul?

From a sporting, fair play sense, I think probably the better outcome was what we got... It's not perfect by any means, but I think it would've been particularly unfair if Usyk had wound up counted out from what around 50% of the audience sees as a low blow?

I'm not telling you anything i gave my opinion on the incident that's it, i'm not saying my opinion is factual just an opinion end of. I've debated about this subject until i'm blue in the face and have gave very valid unbiased views why i think it was a legit abdomen shot. If you disagree with my opinion that's fine i got no problem with it, but you're not going to convince me into your way of thinking and vice a versa for me aswell convincing you.

In the end i'm glad Dubois didn't win because i didn't want to see him as champion, especially after the way he quit at the end of the fight.

In a case where you trying to make us for fools that somehow a blue color is green, this ain't a opinion.

I already prove all of your statements, aka Usyk trunks was high, and then it wasn't low, already.
Both videos clearly prove my point and debunk yours.

So you can have your point as much as you like, it's just false, simple as that. Because this ain't a matter of opinion, there is written rules.

This thread already debunked everything + the written rules:
https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/usyk-wore-his-trunks-high.709022/

So you can arguing as much as you like, the reality is it was a clear lowblow by the rules, and it was low by a lot.
As Usyk belly button was placed exactly on the upper belt line, and Dubois shot was way below the lower belt line, which there is quite a margin, so a clear lowblow.

His imaginary belly button?
The waist ban Was concealing / occluding his belly button - he was wearing them that high.
His belly button wasn’t visible the entire fight.

Louis provolone has not only cat like reflexes ,
Not just 20/20 vision but X-Ray vision as well?
Nah.

this guy sums it up perfectly

I notice you omit the most important part of my post : If the ref starts the count, Usyk gets up and beats the **** out of Dubois. The result is the same. There are NO VICTIMS HERE. In the end, Dubois quit.

Was that an oversight, or you see Dubois as a victim in need of sympathy and succor?

I'm not trying to make you believe anything my guy, i have an opinion just like you have an opinion and I'm entitled to have my views.

You haven't proved anything the trunks debate has already been addressed.......Usyk's belly button was not visible during the punch....the trunks move up and down in various positions during a fight that's not concrete evidence. There's pictures of Usyk's trunks being above belly button when he was announced winner, and there's picture of his belly button being present after the fight so it's all moot point that doesn't prove anything. Dubois's punch landed on the "belt line" which was covering Usyk's nasal passage hence the punch landed on the abdomen.

Also if you're gonna bring up the freeze frame images look through the thread that's already been addressed aswell.

A punch landing on the belt line when it's covering the belly button is a legal punch, and i'm sorry you can keep harping on until the cows go home i don't agree with your opinion. You can have your views on the incident and i'll have mine and we'll leave it at that.

I been debating about this subject with about 10 different posters since last night and i'm tired of it in all honestly, i don't want to debate it anymore so this is my last reply on the matter.
