What do you mean by nonsense? is it that the offer wasn't real or the actual amount is bad?

Ward wasn't even fighting yet you believe GGG offered him a catchweight? What position was GGG in to offer Ward a catchweight fight? Ward was sitting on the sidelines like a baby because of his promoter. This is all internet fantasy and nonsense. Ward isn't a draw and has no fan base and awful tv ratings but GGG was in no position to offer him anything at that point and even if he did Ward wasn't fighting.

Rjj was considered the biggest prospect in boxing back then. What are you talking about? It was a risk anyone who knows boxing knows Jones had alot of hype back then.

The offer was real. But in my honest opinion, it was offered just to make it appear to people that they were trying to make the fight. I think Oscar knew full well before he sent it that it was never going to be accepted.

I guarantee you than no businessman would accept that offer on behalf of their fighter, 12 months out.

It would be one of the biggest grossing fights of all time generating millions in overall revenue.

    You said it.

    He was a prospect.

He had a lot of hype, but his biggest wins had been against Castro and Harris.

Bernard fought him when he was a prospect, but he wouldn't fight him in 2002 at a CW, even though there was nothing else to achieve at MW, as he'd become the undisputed champ and he'd already surpassed Monzon's record.

No way Loudon I think you are over-estimating the popularity of this fight, at its greatest height it would have done 750k-1 mil but at this point or in a years time i think it would 500k maximum. The casuals in my country the UK do not know either men and that includes Canelo.

We'll have to wait and see. But I think it will be way over 500,000 buys.

People are fed up now, but they'll come back around with some good promotion.

Boxing is not as popular a sport as it used to be and neither of these guys are mayweather/pacquaio stature so not sure where the other fans comes from. Maybe 750,000 but can't imagine anymore than that.

GG has had a B side mentality that when he finally gains grounds on fighters who are not popular as he is...you get 75-25-which is the way it's supposed to be. Beat the champ get the fame. Unfortunately Wilder...who is supposed to get 75-25 against Povetkin, and Headvetkin and Ryabinsky call for a purse bid. Yes something is wrong because purse bids were supposed to be a last resort. We all know negotiations broke down before they even started negotiations.

Even on the you tube channels nobody can make any sense of Canelos trainer going on about his next three fights at 158?well I'd of thought it obvious as it eats time into GGG and as its another catchweight it means he's either dragging somebody up or a middleweight down some.
Lemieux struggles to make 160 and has nothing to offer and I'm not sure if BJS would go down to 158 although money talks and to be fair Oscar with the biggest star in boxing now Mayweather is out can afford to pay Canelos opponents good money.

Re BJS I'm not very hopeful and if I've learned anything in boxing it's that talk means absolutely nothing,BJS may be confident of beating Canelo but as we've seen before without a KO outside of Mayweather that guy does not lose?
