I'm a huge Pac fan - but I'm so sad to say I can't see him beating Shane.

So are half the fighters 147 and below.

So are 99% of the fighters 147 and below.

Marquez is 35. Floyd is 32.

Pacquiao is 30. Shane is 37.

Adding weight is alot easier then cutting weight you havent made in a decade. Reference De La Hoya at 160, to De La Hoya at 147.

sure sure. Atleast he was willing to face Oscar at his prime weight and didnt fight a zombie.

Yeah, point to that, it's a ****ing great point.

Never mind the fact that Mosley makes 147 all the time and therefore would only have to cut THREE POUNDS, whereas Oscar hadn't fought as low as 147 for 7 years and therefore would've had to cut even more weight to get to 144 from his usual weigh-in weight of 150-154.

    :-(

so you think it's more logical to fight JMM than Mosley for PBF?!:lol::lol:

Like I said JMM has no experience at fighting over 140lbs while PBF and Mosley has been there loooooooooonger!

    Sure dude!

If you think PBF choosing to fight JMM over Mosley or Cotto or whoever is at 147lbs is not cherry picking then I don't know what cherry picking is :lol:

The fair is clearly at 147 pounds. Pacquiao is the so called p4p best fighter in the world right? Most here say he's god or unstoppable. If that's the case then fight the best at their weight class? Why fighting a fighter who is 2 years to 40 years to risk his health by making the fight be at way low under 147 pounds in which that fighter ( Mosley) hasn't fought in 10 years? Some people and you might be one of them are delusional if you and anybody think Mosley will still be the same fighter at 144 or 143 pounds without a problem.

JMM has no experience of fighting over 135. He doesn't have much experience of fighting over 130 really (only 2 fights).

Mosley hasnt made 140 in 10 years. He might aswell never have been there considering how hard it is to cut weight especially at his age. JMM on fight night weighs around 140 anyways, so it wouldnt hurt for him to bulk up a little.

Mosley on the other hand wieghs 160 on fight night, so it WILL be hard to cut.

    I think its all bull****.

    ha!ha!ha!

so you are saying pbf is NOT a cherry picker

JMM has the same size as PBF ?!but MOSLEY is much bigger than PBF.
dude, Mosley and PBF has been fighting at 147lbs for years NOW and yet
PBF choose to fight somebody who has not yet experienced fighting over
    140lbs..

Dinamita, the key to victory for Pac is speed, speed, and more speed. I know I'm a notorious speed ***** (as our Hopkins-Calzaghe debates probably made clear to you) and while Shane is still pretty fast, I truly think the Margarito fight made it look like Shane's faster than what he is and what he's going to look like vs Pac. He's not Pacquiao fast in either the hand or footspeed department, and I think it's going to show on fight night.

If Manny keeps Mosley turning and picks his shots, he can win that fight. He has to be wary about getting into a straight up war with the guy whose got the bigger guns and he's got to not make himself available to get bullied on the inside, but it is possible. Keeping him turning and utilizing movement will also cut down on how much Mosley can throw, allowing Manny to pick off or avoid the shots. Pac's got a slim margin for error because Mosley is still a damn good fighter who happens to be bigger than he is. It's definitely a losable fight, but it's not unwinnable, either.

At first glance, this looks bad for Pac.

But there are a few things that need to be considered.

When Mosley fought Delahoya, he was moving up from light weight to welter (skipping over the 140) in a year. I thought that that alone would probably seal his fate. But not only was he competitive, he won the fight.

Against the best WW at the time (and don't mention Felix. Oscar was better).

I scored it a draw, but most folks think he won and two the three judges did too.

Now admittedly, Pac has already moved up far more than the Mosley who faced Oscar, but he's not really moving up any further this time. He already fought at welter and junior welter, and this fight will be somewhere in between.

If anything, the weight drop might be a ***** for Shane, who hasn't fought down there for a decade, and has been at 154 not long ago.

Age might (will) be a factor. (The Shane who faced Oscar twice would almost certainly stop any Pac we've seen so far).

Pac will be 30 and Shane will be 38. Age comes suddenly to some, and Shane is already past his best.

And while Shane is in decline, Pac continues to improve with each fight. He could be better against Shane than he was against Hatton.

At his fastest, Shane was faster than Pac, but it's likely that Pac will have an edge in that department come fight night. And that could be significant.

All in all, an intriguing fight. I'm a fan of both guys so I really don't care who wins.

I may change my mind closer to fight night, but for now, despite the foregoing, I'm giving the edge to Shane.

After a harrowing start, he will score a mid to late rounds stoppage.

De la hoya before fighting Pacquiao at ww fought Forbes at 150. Fighting pacquiao, De la hoya would have to cut down 3 pounds to make the ww limit just like Mosley will have to cut 3 pounds to make the weight at 144 pounds. See the simlarity? And Mosley is 2 years away from being 40 years. You think it be easy for Mosley at his age to cut down to 144 pounds without a problem?

P4P#1 doesn't mean you have no limit to how high a weight you will fight, that's just stupid.

Why didn't Floyd fight Winky and Pavlik, why didn't Sweet Pea fight Jones in 1993/4, why didn't Hagler fight Michael Spinks, why didn't Chavez fight Mike McCallum in the late 80s?

I could go on. You're being silly. Pac is not and never will be a welterweight, there is no reason why he should fight the current number 1 ww at 147 and give away 10-12lbs when he can level the playing field.

you misunderstood my question. so it would be fair to pac if he would fight mosley at 147, coming in at 142 and becomes 148 on fight night while mosley weighs-in at 147 and comes 160 on fight night?
