im a MMA Fan and a boxing fan and my thoughts on the dying claim.

When MMA guys stop coming to the ring with CONDOM DEPOT all over their shorts, then you can say boxing is dying.

Dana White was a boxer and an absolutely terrible one at that. Like most MMA fighters really.

Come on...with guys like Michael "the crap" Bisping as up and comers in MMA , when I could beat the guy up myself with one arm from what I've seen of him, MMA guys need to shut the **** up.

 

Oh and come on, I like Brock Lesnar but becoming a dominant and the most recognised champion in the sport after 3 fights shows how credible MMA is.

 

The whole Boxing vs MMA argument is nonsensical. Fight fans enjoy fights. It doesn't matter which sport they watch. I love boxing and MMA. Boxing won't die any time soon - but the healthy PPV competition with the UFC will force them to continue putting together solid cards with good undercards and quality main events.

Boxing is not dying - but it's a shame that we may never see the likes of the great Don King cards from the 90's that had Azumah Nelson, Julio Cesar Chavez, & Terry Norris all packed on the same PPV.

 

Are you aware that Darren Corbett was a bum fighter... I mean, who loses their belt to Stephane Allouane?

 

Both sports are fine MMAs pouplarity rises by the day and a boxing match just did 1 million PPV buys for a fight that wouldnt even make the top 5 most wanted fights. Noboddy is dying infact its utterly impossible for boxing to die.

just from the tone of your post I bet you're one of those boxing fanboys who loves to talk **** about MMA, and incase you didn't know, bisping just got knocked the **** out by a wrestler. You call him an up and comer, but everyone who knows anything about MMA knows that he has always been overrated and overhyped by the UFC because they want to establish a fanbase in the UK. And no, you could not "beat him up with one arm tied behind your back", infact you wouldn't stand a chance with him in a fight.

and no lesnar is not a "dominant" champion by any means, his record is 4 and 1 so obviously not a dominant champion. and the only reason he is the most recognised is because of his time in the WWE which got every 11 year old to get their daddy to buy them brock's ppv, that says more about the way the marketing of the UFC than it does about the credibility of the sport of MMA, anyone with two brain cells would know this. The days of MMA's credibility being questionable are over, if you said this in say 1993 you would have a point and probably be right, but times have changed a LOT and anyone today who still challenges the "credibility" of MMA is either stuck in the stone age or a boxing fanboy who hates on MMA for whatever reason.

As someone has stated before me, his time in the WWE spiked his popularity.
And if you think he is the most recognized champion in the sport you need to either read up on your MMA or STFU. Easily the least favorite champ in UFC when compared to Machida, Silva, GSP, and Penn.

And by weight class Fedor is the most recognized (possibly even out of weight class Fedor is the most recognized).

And while yes he only has four fights, to the people that follow the sport and recognize his amateur background they understand that while four fights in the UFC he is still a force to be reckoned with.

 

Didn't Leon Spinks beat the world's greatest heavyweight champ ever(arguably) Muhammad Ali in his 8th pro fight?I'm just saying **** happens so we shouldn't compare.
